“Persecution Versus the Great Commission”

Acts 8:4–25

📌What the enemy intended to stop the Church became the very thing God used to advance the Gospel.

Acts 8:4 “Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word.”

“📌The devil may change your location, but he cannot cancel your assignment.”

1.) PERSECUTION CANNOT STOP GOD’S PURPOSE

Acts 8:1–4 “Now Saul was consenting to his death. At that time a great persecution arose against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles. And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him. As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering every house, and dragging off men and women, committing them to prison. Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word.”

🖌️Acts 1:8:
“You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

2.) EVERY BELIEVER IS A MISSIONARY

Acts 8:4 Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word.”

You don’t need a pulpit to preach Jesus.

Your workplace can become your pulpit.
Your home can become your mission field.
Your business can become your platform.
Your neighborhood can become your Jerusalem.

Say this to the church:

“I am not just a church member. I am a Kingdom messenger.”

3.) PHILIP TURNED PERSECUTION INTO EVANGELISM

Acts 8:5

“Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Messiah there.”

Acts 8:6:
“When the crowds heard Philip and saw the signs he performed, they all paid close attention to what he said.”

Acts 8:8:
“So there was great joy in that city.”

Persecution produced evangelism.
Evangelism produced salvation.
Salvation produced joy.

Kingdom principle:
When the enemy scatters the Church, the Church must spread the Gospel.

4.) THE GOSPEL MUST CONFRONT FALSE POWER

Simon had influenced the people through magic and claimed to be someone great.

Acts 8:18–19 “And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money, saying, “Give me this power also, that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive the Holy

God’s power is received by surrender, not purchased by money.”

-We must never turn ministry into self-promotion.
-We don’t preach so people will admire us.
-We preach because Jesus must be known.

5.) PERSECUTION REVEALS WHAT IS REALLY IN US

What is inside us determines our response.

👉If Christ is inside us, pressure can produce perseverance.

If purpose is inside us, opposition cannot stop us.

If the Great Commission is inside us, persecution cannot silence us .

6.) THE GREAT COMMISSION IS GREATER THAN OUR Comfort

Sometimes God will move you out of what is comfortable so you can enter what is fruitful.

Jesus never commanded us to:
“Go and make yourself comfortable.”

He commanded:
“Go and make disciples.”

The Great Commission requires movement.
There are people waiting for the Gospel.
Someone is waiting for your testimony.
Someone needs your encouragement.
Someone needs to hear that Jesus saves.
Someone needs to know that their life still has purpose.
Someone needs to encounter Christ through you.

7.) THE CHURCH MUST NEVER ALLOW PERSECUTION TO BECOME AN EXCUSE

8.) PERSECUTION CAN BECOME A PLATFORM FOR THE

Declare:
“My opposition will not stop my mission.”

“My pressure will not silence my testimony.”

“My circumstances will not cancel my calling.”

“Wherever God sends me, I will carry the Gospel.”

THE GREAT COMMISSION CHALLENGE

Jesus said in Matthew 28:19–20:

“Go and make disciples of all nations…”

Acts 8 shows us what happens when ordinary believers take that command seriously.

The Gospel moved:

Jerusalem → Judea → Samaria → the nations.

The Church was never designed to stay inside the building.

The Church gathers for worship and scatters for mission.

Sunday is not the end of the mission.

Sunday is the preparation for Monday’s mission.

They were scattered—but they were still preaching.

They were opposed—but they were still preaching.

They were pressured—but they were still preaching.

They were displaced—but they were still preaching.

Because the Great Commission was greater than their persecution.

“Persecution can scatter the Church, but it cannot stop the Gospel.”

“The enemy can change your circumstances, but he cannot change God’s assignment.”

“Don’t waste your pain—turn it into a platform for the Gospel.”

“Wherever you are scattered, let Jesus be seen.”

But perhaps God is saying:

“I did not allow you to be scattered so you could be silent. I scattered you so you could be a witness.”

Your workplace needs Jesus.

Your family needs Jesus.

Your community needs Jesus.

Your generation needs Jesus.

Your brgy. needs Jesus.

And God has chosen you to carry the message.

Declaration:
“Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to Your purpose.
I will not allow persecution to silence me.

"Train Your Mind to Be Stronger Than Your Emotions"

2 Timothy 1:7
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

-You cannot always control what you feel, but you can control what you choose to believe and how you respond.

“Your emotions may speak loudly, but they must not speak last.”

1. YOUR EMOTIONS ARE REAL, BUT THEY ARE NOT ALWAYS RIGHT

Feelings change. God’s Word does not change.

Psalm 42:5:
“Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God.”

“You must learn to speak to your emotions before your emotions speak for you.”

2. YOUR MIND MUST BE TRAINED

Romans 12:2

-A strong spiritual life requires a disciplined mind.

-You cannot stop every negative thought from entering your mind, but you can decide which thoughts you will entertain.

-When fear says, “You cannot,” faith says, “I can do all things through Christ.”

When discouragement says, “Give up,” the Word says, “Do not grow weary in doing good.”

When the enemy says, “You are finished,” God says, “I know the plans I have for you.”

2 Corinthians 10:5

3. DO NOT MAKE PERMANENT DECISIONS BASED ON TEMPORARY EMOTIONS

This is one of the most important principles of life.

-When you are angry, don't make major decisions.

-When you are deeply discouraged, don't give up.

-When you are afraid, don't automatically run.

-When you are excited, don't promise everything.

-Your emotion may be temporary, but the consequence of your decision may be permanent.

“Never let a temporary feeling make a permanent decision.”

A strong person can have a weak moment, but a weak moment does not have to become a weak life.

4. FAITH MUST LEAD; EMOTIONS MUST FOLLOW

Faith does not mean you never feel fear.

-Faith means you obey God even when you feel afraid.

God told him:

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid.” — Joshua 1:9

-Courage is not the absence of fear.

-Courage is choosing to move forward despite fear.

You may say:

“I feel afraid, but I will obey.”

“I feel tired, but I will continue.”

“I feel discouraged, but I will worship.”

“I feel like quitting, but I will remain faithful.”

That is emotional maturity.

“You don't have to feel strong to act strong.”

5. CONTROL YOUR MIND BY FILLING IT WITH GOD'S WORD

Philippians 4:8

-What are you feeding your mind?

-What you repeatedly think about eventually influences how you live.

-Feed your mind with Scripture.

-Feed your spirit through prayer.

-Feed your heart with worship.

6. LEARN TO PAUSE BEFORE YOU REACT

-One sign of maturity is learning to respond instead of reacting.

Your emotion says, “Answer back!”

But wisdom says, “Be quiet.”

Someone disappoints you.

Your emotion says, “Get revenge!”

But the Spirit says, “Forgive.”

Something doesn't go according to plan.

Your emotion says, “Quit!”

But faith says, “Trust God.

THERE ARE SEASONS WHEN IT FEELS, LIKE PRAYERS ARE UNANSWERED AND DOORS REMAIN CLOSED. BUT SILENCE DOES NOT MEAN GOD IS ABSENT, HEAVEN IS STILL WORKING BEHIND THE SCENCES. "

1.) GOD REMEMBERS YOUR PRAYERS
>YOUR TEARS ARE SEEN BY GOD. EVERY PRAYER OFFERED IN FAITH MATTERS BEFORE HIM.
>YOUR WAITING SEASON HAS PURPOSE, GOD WORKS EVEN WHEN YOU CAN'T SEE THE PROCESS.

2.) GOD REMEMBERS HIS PROMISES.
>HIS WORD CANNOT FAIL. WHAT GOD HAS SPOKEN REMAINS SECURE.
>HIS TIMING IS ALWAYS PERFECT. HE MOVES AT THE RIGTH MOMENT FOR HIS PURPOSE.

3.) GOD WILL REVEAL HIS FAITHFULNESS
>FORGOTTEN SEASONS CAN BECOME TESTIMONY SEASONS. GOD CAN CHANGE YOUR STORY
SUDDENLY.
>YOUR LIFE HAS VALUE BEFORE HIM. YOU ARE KNOWN, LOVED, AND REMEMBERS BY YOUR CREATOR.

*NO DELAY CAN ERASE GOD'S PLAN. NO REJECTION CAN REMOVE HIS LOVE.

*NO CLOSE DOOR CAN CANCEL HIS PURPOSE.

*DO'NT LOSE TO REMEMBER YOUR GOD, BECAUSE GOD NEVER NEVER FORGOTTEN.

"JESUS FORGOT HIS SELF AS LORD IN THE LAST MINUTE, BUT HE NEVER FORGET YOU.”

FIND A FRIEND WHO WILL LEAD YOU TO GOD CLOSER.
