The Holy Spirit is one of the personas in the Holy Trinity, which refers to the power of God within us. It is the spirit of truth who guides us to what is right and wrong. He is the one who speaks to us of the words of God. The Holy Spirit will never leave the true believer. Once the believers have a Holy Spirit in their lives, they will experience a great harvest in every aspect of life. We are not called only to believe in this great harvest but to live in expectation of it because God really has the power to do it.
Why should we believe that there is a great harvest in a Christian life filled by the Holy Spirit?
First, His power within us is greater than our circumstances. As humans, we have our limitations and weaknesses, which make us fearful of our circumstances. Nevertheless, God has the power to turn our weaknesses into strengths, which make us bolder in facing challenges of life. Jesus has already overcome the dead and the world; therefore, there are no reasons for Christians to be fearful of any circumstances. If we remain fearful of circumstances, we cannot move forward and experience the great harvest of life.
Second, fruitfulness is inevitable in our lives when we abide in Him. Abiding in Christ means that we pray, obey, and humble ourselves before Him. It means staying connected to God—just like a branch connected to a vine. If we remain connected to Him, we will bear fruit in relational, spiritual, emotional, and even material aspects of our lives. It is saying that apart from God, we can do nothing.
Third, God’s harvest in our lives is not just external, but it is both internal and external. Internal harvest of God refers to the internal transformations within us—change in character and having peace, love, and joy. Meanwhile, external harvests are external transformations, including restored relationships, new opportunities, good influence, true service, and great impact. With the combination of these two harvests, we can harvest souls, righteousness, answered prayers, and fulfilled purpose.
By understanding these principles, we can indeed expect a great harvest in our lives—in our spirit, relationships, work, and influence.
