How can we succeed as a family and as a ministry?
Follow the Lord’s example.
What is the example of the Lord Jesus Christ?
Mark 10:45 says:
“For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”
The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve. He did not seek His own pleasure; instead, He sacrificed Himself by taking upon Himself the sins of the world.
What, then, must we imitate in Him?
We must live a sacrificial life.
A sacrificial life is something we should delight in, even though others may see it as a burden. Many view sacrifice negatively because the teaching they have received is centered on self. However, when we search the Scriptures, we find that self-sacrifice is clearly demonstrated in the life of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Now, if He Himself—who is sinless and perfect—lived this out, how much more should we?
A sacrificial life means that we completely deny ourselves, not temporarily or only for a period of time, but as a way of life. It is not conditional; it is a continual commitment to put God’s will above our own.
