The Candle of Hope, lit on the First Sunday of Advent, reminds us of God’s loving promise to be with His people. As Salesians, we see this hope not just as something to wait for, but something to live with joy each day. It invites us to trust God like Don Bosco did, believing that even small acts of kindness, sacrifice, and love can let His light shine in the world, especially among the young and the poor.
It is also called the Prophet’s Candle because the prophets encouraged God’s people to remain faithful while waiting for the Savior. In the same way, we are called to guide the young with patience, optimism, and a heart that reflects God’s fatherly care. Lighting this candle inspires us to prepare for the coming of Jesus with a joyful spirit, renewed faith, and a desire to bring hope to others.
