Good Morning Beloved!
"Be content"
What a powerful reminder the Lord has given us through Pastor Noel yesterday.
Our definition of being content is a bit different with how the Bible defines it.
We often define being content as being satisfiedโand there is nothing wrong with that. In fact, it aligns with how the Bible describes contentment.
However, we tend to add to that definition a sense of complacency, even lazinessโa mindset of โit is what it is; I just have to be content.โ The world often portrays contentment as merely getting by with what we have and settling for less.
At times, we even mistake this for something spiritualโthanking the Lord for what He has already given us, yet hesitating to ask for more, because we assume that is what it means to be content.
But what is Bible contentment?
Apostle Paul said it best...
Philippians 4:10-13 (MSG)
Iโve learned by now to be quite content whatever my circumstances. Iโm just as happy with little as with much, with much as with little. Iโve found the recipe for being happy whether full or hungry, hands full or hands empty. Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am.
Pastor Noel shared with us what a preacher defined contentment as...
"It is enjoying what I have right now, rather than waiting for something to happen for me to be happy."
When the Lord tells us to be content, He is NOT telling us to be complacent. He is NOT telling us to stop asking Him and simply settle for everything we have.
What He is telling us is to live in the momentโto rejoice in what we have today because of Him. He calls us to enjoy the journey, to embrace the present, and at the same time, look forward with hope to the future.
Be content by finding your joy in Jesus today, while still expecting more from Him.
So, beloved, let us follow Paulโs example. Let us be content. In whatever state we find ourselves, let us rejoice, knowing that the Lord is with us and working for us.
Let us not reserve our happiness for โwhen there is more.โ Happiness is not found in having moreโit is found in seeing Jesus today. Enjoy your journey with Him, and watch Him lead you to places you once only dreamed of.
God bless you, Church. Have a blessed and truly content week ahead.
