𝟐𝟗𝐓𝐇 𝐒𝐇𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐃 𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐀𝐑𝐘
Today, May 31, we celebrate the 29th Anniversary of the elevation of the Parish of Our Lady of the Abandoned as a Shrine. The decree declaring the church’s status as a shrine was issued on April 22, 1997, signed by Manila Archbishop Jaime Cardinal Sin. The shrine was formally declared as the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of the Abandoned on the Feast of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary on May 31, 1997, during a Mass celebrated by Cardinal Sin with Msgr. Espenilla installed as the first Shrine Rector.

On December 7, 2002, the cities of Parañaque, Muntinlupa, and Las Piñas separated from the Archdiocese of Manila to form the Diocese of Parañaque by virtue of the Papal Bull Ad Efficacious by Pope (St.) John Paul II and that the formerly called “Archdiocesan Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of the Abandoned, Muntinlupa City” was effectively called “𝗗𝗶𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗵𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗟𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵, Muntinlupa City”.

Mariang dakila at katangi-tanging nilikha ng biyaya ng Diyos, ibinigay mo si Kristo para sa sangkatauhan. Nawa’y si Kristo ay maipakilala namin sa aming pamilya, sa aming sambayanan at sa buong bansa. Nawa’y maging bahagi rin Siya ng pagsisikap ng bawat tao.

Bilang pinakaganap na alagad ni Kristo, palakasin mo ang aming kalooban sa pagbabata ng krus ng tiisin at hapis. Bigyan mo ng kalusugan ang mga maysakit, kasiyahan ang mga dukha, tiyaga at pag-asa ang lahat ng binabaliwala at tinatanggihan ng mundong ito. Ina ng Diyos, ikaw ang tunay na Inang Mapag-Ampon para sa aming lahat. Ipanalangin at gabayan mo po ang mga makasalanan na magbalik-loob at magbayad-puri. Tulungan mo kaming mga alagad ng iyong Anak na maging malinis ang budhi at layunin na makiisa at makipagtulungan na maisabuhay ang Mabuting Balita ng pag-ibig at kapayapaan, ng katarungan at katotohanan. Amen.
