“BURNT TOAST” This story is so touching and meaningful, I had to share it with you.
One night, my Mom, after a long hard day working at home, made Dad a quick dinner. She placed eggs, ham and burned toast in front of him with butter and jam on the side. I was waiting to see if Dad would noticed the burnt toast. Dad just ate his toast and asked me how was my day at school. I don't remember what I told him that night, but I do remember I heard Mom apologizing to Dad for burning the toast. And I'll never forget what he said: "Darling, I love burned toast." Later that night, I went to kiss Daddy good night and I asked him if he really liked his toast burned. He wrapped me in his arms and said, "Your momma put in a long hard day at work today and she was really tired. And besides, burnt toast never hurts anyone but harsh words do!"
I’m not sure if this burnt toast story is really true, but it really doesn’t matter. It’s a perfect example of how we must be careful with our words. Our children listen and learn from our example then copy us. Thank you to all the parents who live a godly model to their kids.
What I've learned over the years is to accept each others faults and choose to celebrate each other’s differences. This is one of the most important keys to creating healthy, growing, and lovng relationships. Life is too short to wake up with regrets. Love people even if they are imperfect and have compassion for those who don't treat you well.
