CHURCH HISTORY
Christ Baptist Church, formerly known as Bayanan Baptist Mission, was started in 1974 by a 21-year-old pastor, Apollos J. The first service was held in a garage of an auto repair shop at Sunrise Subdivision, Bautista Street, Bayanan, Muntinlupa Rizal, with only 8 attendees. A year after, the mission house was transferred to Purok 2 Block 10 Pleasant Village found in a small alley called “Belong-belong.” God brought seven families to support the pastor and sustain the ministry. After 3 years, 1978 it became an independent local church named Bethany Baptist Church. The church constructed her building at Garcia’s residence with 50 square meters lot at Bautista Street as the new address. God gave a vision of a new project of 2,236 square meter lot to Pastor Hernandez. It then became a reality in 1983. The 5th anniversary was celebrated at Block 24, Soldiers’ Hills Village, Putatan, Muntinlupa Metro Manila with an average attendance of 1,800. A year after, the Bible College and Academy were established as new educational training for adults and children, Missionaries were sent out and more doors were opened for ministries. In 1987, the church members under the leadership of the pastor renamed her as Christ Baptist Church. In 1996, Pastor Apollos Hernandez and the church recalled Pastor Jose V. Conui III from Bible Baptist Church, Tayabas, Quezon, who was the 2nd missionary of the church in 1982, to continue the work in Muntinlupa. The clear vision of faith from God came to Pastor Conui. He dreamed to render God great respect and tribute. So, through the providence of God, the dream came true in the year 2003. Christ Baptist Church acquired a new property of about 3,600 square meters lot which is accessible as a tribute offering to our great God. Because of the work of faith, the patience of hope and labour of love, the new gathering place of worship was constructed in a record time of only 28 days last July of 2007 for the church’s 29th anniversary. The new church is located at Roman Cruz Avenue, Soldiers’ Hills Village, Putatan, Muntinlupa City.
