The Church celebrates today the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Through this Feast, may we continue to love our Blessed Mother more, and that we may understand that through her "Fiat", we received the greatest gift of all, our Lord Jesus Christ.

We hereby officially announce that the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, has accepted the resignation from the pastoral governance of the Diocese of Paraรฑaque of His Excellency the Most Rev. Jesse E. Mercado, D.D., effective June 6, 2026, in accordance with Canon 401 ยง1 of the Code of Canon Law.

Consequently, the Diocese of Paraรฑaque is now in the state of Sede Vacante (cf. can. 416).

At the same time, the Holy Father has appointed His, Excellency, ๐Œ๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐‘๐ž๐ฏ. ๐„๐ฅ๐ข๐š๐ฌ ๐‹๐ฎ๐ฆ๐š๐ฒ๐จ๐  ๐€๐ฒ๐ฎ๐›๐š๐ง, ๐‰๐ซ., ๐‚๐Œ๐…, ๐ƒ๐ƒ, ๐‰๐‚๐ƒ, ๐‘ฉ๐’Š๐’”๐’‰๐’๐’‘ ๐’๐’‡ ๐‘ช๐’–๐’ƒ๐’‚๐’ as ๐‘จ๐’‘๐’๐’”๐’•๐’๐’๐’Š๐’„ ๐‘จ๐’…๐’Ž๐’Š๐’๐’Š๐’”๐’•๐’“๐’‚๐’•๐’๐’“ of the Diocese of Paraรฑaque during this period of Sede Vacante. He shall exercise the governance of the Diocese in the name of the Holy See until the appointment and canonical possession of the new Bishop of Paraรฑaque.

May our Blessed Mother, Nuestra Seรฑora del Buen Suceso, continue to intercede for our Diocese, that we may remain united in faith, hope, and charity during this time of transition.

Let us gather together in prayer and ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit to send us a new shepherd who will faithfully lead the flock of God in the Diocese of Paraรฑaque.

We also continue to pray for our Bishop Emeritus, Most Rev. Jesse E. Mercado, D.D., with deep gratitude for his years of faithful serviceโ€”shepherding our diocese with wisdom, humility, and love.
