GENESIS 12:1-8
ANG BUHAY NI ABRAHAM
> Tulad ni Abraham, nais ng DIYOS na pagpalain at maging pagpapala sa iba any iyong buhay!
> We will examine Abrahamโs life and let us learn the three (3) important virtues!
(vv.1-3) ABRAHAMโS TRUST! (LEAVE YOUR PAST)
Gen 12:1 The LORD had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your fatherโs household and go to the land I will show you.
> God promised Abraham, a righteous man who believed in God, not in the idols of those around him, that his descendants would
1. Inherit the land of Canaan
2. Become a great nation
3. Be a blessing to all nations
- This promise (12:2- 3; 22:18) is the foundation for the rest of the Bible.
> God first called Abraham in Ur (Gen 11:31; Acts 7: 2-4),
and again in Haran (12:1-4),
> Until Abram left his past, his life was characterized by delay and barrenness - just as it is with us.
> Acts 7:2 tells us that God appeared to Abraham firstly in Ur of the Chaldees and instructed him to leave his life as it stood and head for Canaan.
> God did not speak to Abraham again until he fully obeyed His voice and entered Canaan.
(vv.4-5) ABRAHAMโS OBEDIENCE! (LEARN GODโS WAYS)
God blessed Abraham.
> but fullness of that blessing only comes when we learn His ways and walk in them.
- to be obedient
> Here is the key to have a prospered life.
- Allow yourself to be taught from Godโs word. WHY? Because...
1. Godโs Word leads to faith (1โ3).
- Abram was an idolater when God called him (Josh. 24:2), revealed His glory to him (Acts 7:2), and spoke to him.
- Abram turned from vain idols to walk with the Lord, and all of this was by Godโs grace.
- The hearing of the Word creates faith (John 5:24; Rom. 10:17)
2. Faith leads to obedience (4โ6).
- The New Testament states, โBy faith Abraham obeyedโ (Heb. 11:8). โI will show you, I will make you, I will bless you!โ were Godโs promises, and Abram believed.
- It has well been said that faith is not believing in spite of evidence; it is obeying in spite of consequences.
- The proof of faith is obedience, for true faith always leads to works (James 2:14ff.). Hearing leads to heeding.
3. Obedience leads to blessing (7โ9).
- We are told nothing about the journey, which must have been very difficult; but we are told that God met Abram when he arrived and gave him a new promise.
- God always goes before us and has His Word ready to encourage us.
4. Blessing leads to testing (10โ20).
- Faith will always tested for at least three reasons: to prove whether our faith is real; to help our faith grow; and to bring glory to the Lord (1 Pet. 1:6โ9; James 1:1โ8).
- We can be in the will of God and still suffers.
> God blessed Abram that he might be a blessing.
> Whenever God gives you a blessing, itโs so that you might be a blessing to others.
> Godโs blessings are not luxuries; they are opportunities.
> Am I Living by Faith?
- When you live by faith, you make your decisions on the basis of the Word of God (Rom. 10:17).
- True faith is not in a hurry; it is willing to wait (Isa. 28:16; Heb. 6:12).
- Faith obeys God in spite of circumstances or consequences, and it is not afraid of what others may say or do (Heb. 11:29โ30).
> CHOICES ALWAYS DETERMINE DESTINY!
Deuteronomy 28 is a chapter on the principles obedience and disobedience and their consequences.
(vv.6-8) ABRAHAMโS WORSHIP! (LEAN NOT ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING)
> Famine will test your faith!
> Famine causes us to respond in one of two ways.
- Faith โ to believe God is who He is.
- Feelings โ to respond to our senses.
> The land of Egypt is a type of place, system or doctrine that binds and holds
in bo***ge and slavery, it leads to death and it is ruled over by an evil tyrant.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what Godโs will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Colossians 3:2
CONCLUSION:
Choose Him and His ways, begin again to walk in the footsteps of faith.
From "Abram (exalted father) to Abraham (father of multitude)!๐
