A HEART ABLAZE FOR GOD: THE GLORIOUS FEAST OF SAINT AUGUSTINE!

Today, August 28, we join the universal Church in gloriously celebrating the Memorial of Saint Augustine of Hippo, Bishop and Doctor of the Church—a true spiritual powerhouse whose journey from a restless wanderer chasing worldly pleasures to one of Christianity’s greatest minds proves that no soul is ever beyond the reach of divine grace. Honored for his brilliant intellect and fiery devotion, Saint Augustine profoundly shaped Christian philosophy through masterworks like Confessions and The City of God, leaving an indelible mark on history. Often depicted in sacred art holding a flaming heart pierced by an arrow, his image beautifully captures a life completely consumed and transformed by the burning love of God.

As we honor his memory today, his iconic quote reminds us where true fulfillment lies: "To fall in love with God is the greatest romance; to seek Him is the greatest adventure; to find Him, the greatest human achievement." Coming right after the feast of his mother, Saint Monica, whose persistent prayers paved the way for his monumental conversion, Augustine’s legacy is a powerful reminder that our hearts will forever remain restless until they rest in the Lord. "FEED MY LAMBS, TEND MY SHEEP.”

To feed the lambs is to keep the flame of faith alive within us, nourishing it through prayer, trust, sacrifice, and a life rooted in God. To tend His sheep is to recognize that the light we receive is never meant to be kept for ourselves. We are called to carry that light into the lives of others, offering compassion to the weary, guidance to those who seek direction, and love to those who need to be reminded that they are never alone.

May we remain faithful to the light entrusted to us and generous with the love entrusted to our hearts. May our faith never become a flame kept only for ourselves, but a light that gives warmth, hope, and direction to others. Feed the flame. Tend the flock. Serve with love. May our lives continually reflect the heart of the Good Shepherd and become a living testimony of faith in action.

ISANG BUHAY NG PENITENSIYA, ISANG PUSONG GANAP NA INIALAY SA DIYOS | KAPISTAHAN NI SANTA ROSA DE LIMA

Ngayong araw, buong galak at debosyon nating ipinagdiriwang ang Kapistahan ni Santa Rosa de Lima, ang unang santo na na-canonize mula sa Amerika at isa sa mga kinikilalang patrona ng Pilipinas. Kilala sa kanyang malalim na pag-ibig sa Diyos, buhay ng panalangin, penitensiya, at sakripisyo, ipinapaalala sa atin ni Santa Rosa na ang tunay na kabanalan ay nahuhubog sa tapat na pagsunod sa Diyos, pagtitiis nang may pananampalataya, at pagmamahal sa kapwa.

Sa banal na pagdiriwang na ito, nawa’y maging inspirasyon sa atin ang halimbawa ni Santa Rosa na higit na patatagin ang ating pananampalataya, panatilihing buhay ang panalangin, at ialay sa Diyos ang bawat pagsubok at sakripisyo nang may pagmamahal at kababaang-loob.

Santa Rosa de Lima, huwaran ng kabanalan at tapat na lingkod ng Diyos, ipanalangin mo po kami!
