Enero 9

Sabay sabay nating dasalin:

ipanalangin mo kaming makasalanan,
ngayon at kung kami’y mamamatay.

Amen.

Muli, Maligayang Bagong Taon!

December 27

Today we commemorate the feast of St. John the Beloved also an Evangelist and Apostle of Jesus.

St. John is known as the disciple whom Jesus loved, a witness to the most intimate moments of Christ’s life, passion, and glory, and the only apostle traditionally believed to have remained faithful at the foot of the Cross.

He is recognized as the author of the Fourth Gospel, three Epistles, and the Book of Revelation, writings that proclaim the divinity of Christ and the centrality of love as the heart of Christian life.

Often symbolized by the eagle, St. John calls believers to contemplate heavenly realities and to remain rooted in truth and charity.

His life reflects deep intimacy with the Lord and unwavering fidelity to the Gospel.

Prayer:
Saint John the Beloved,
faithful disciple and apostle of love, pray for us, that we may abide in Christ, grow in wisdom and holiness, and live each day guided by faith, hope, and selfless love.

Amen.

December 12

Today we celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, a day that honors the miraculous appearance of the Blessed Mother to Saint Juan Diego in 1531 on Tepeyac Hill in what is now Mexico City.
According to tradition, Mary appeared as a radiant woman clothed in symbols familiar to the indigenous people, speaking in their language and revealing herself as their mother.
She asked Juan Diego to request that a church be built on that site so she could show her love and compassion to all who sought her.
When the local bishop asked for proof, Mary instructed Juan Diego to gather roses that mysteriously bloomed in the winter.
As he opened his tilma to present them, the flowers fell to the ground, and her sacred image appeared imprinted on the fabric, becoming the enduring sign of her presence and promise.

The message of Our Lady of Guadalupe is one of hope, unity, and deep maternal care. She came to a people suffering from division, uncertainty, and cultural conflict, offering peace, dignity, and the assurance that God draws near to every culture and every heart. Her apparition led to profound spiritual renewal in the region, inspiring millions to embrace faith and trust in God’s love.
Today, the feast is celebrated as a reminder of her closeness to all people, especially the marginalized, and her call to compassion, justice, and unwavering faith.

Prayer:
O Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of Mercy and Mother of the Americas, we come before you with grateful hearts. You who appeared to Juan Diego with tenderness and understanding, guide us in our own journey of faith. Help us to bring hope where there is despair, unity where there is division, and love where there is hurt. Protect our families, strengthen our trust in God, and lead us always to your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Disyembre 8

Amen."

November 30

Today we commemorate the feast of St. Andrew the Apostle.
St. Andrew, also known as Andrew the First-Called, was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus and the brother of St. Peter. Born in Bethsaida, a fishing village on the Sea of Galilee, he worked as a fisherman before encountering Christ. According to the Gospel of John, Andrew was first a disciple of John the Baptist.
When John pointed to Jesus as the “Lamb of God,” Andrew immediately sought out the Lord and became the first of the apostles to follow Him. For this reason, he is honored in the Eastern Church as “Protokletos,” the first called.

After Jesus’ Ascension, tradition tells us that Andrew traveled widely to spread the Gospel, preaching in regions such as Greece, Scythia, and Asia Minor. His bold proclamation of Christ eventually led to his martyrdom in Patras, Greece, where he was crucified on an X-shaped cross—now known as St. Andrew’s Cross—which he accepted with humility, feeling unworthy to die in the same manner as Jesus.

St. Andrew is venerated as the patron saint of fishermen, sailors, and unmarried people, and he is also the patron of nations including Scotland, Russia, and Romania. His feast day, celebrated on November 30, invites us to reflect on his courage, humility, and missionary spirit.

Prayer:

O glorious St. Andrew, first-called disciple of the Lord,
on this your feast day, we honor your faith and devotion.
You heard the voice of Christ and followed Him without hesitation.
Help us to seek Jesus with the same eagerness and love.
Intercede for us in our daily needs,
and strengthen us to live as true witnesses of the Gospel.
May your example inspire us to bring others to Christ
through our words, our actions, and our compassion.

St. Andrew the Apostle, pray for us. Amen.

November 2

Today we commemorate All Souls’ Day. This solemn occasion is dedicated to remembering and praying for the faithful departed, those who have gone before us and now rest in the hope of eternal life.
It is a day of reflection, gratitude, and intercession, rooted in the belief that our prayers can aid the souls in their spiritual journey toward union with God.
All Souls’ Day reminds us of the deep connection between the living and the dead, a bond that transcends time and space through faith and love. We observe this day by visiting cemeteries, offering flowers, lighting candles, and praying for our departed loved ones. These acts of remembrance are not only expressions of affection but also of hope—that through God’s mercy, all souls may find peace and eternal rest.

Prayer:
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.

November 1

Today, we honor All Saints’ Day, a sacred celebration dedicated to all the saints who have attained eternal life with God.
This day reminds us of the holiness we are each called to live, inspired by the faith and virtue of those who devoted their lives to God’s will.
As we reflect on their example, we are encouraged to follow their path of faith, love, and service.
May this day renew our spirit to live with purpose and grace, striving always toward the light of holiness.

Prayer:
Lord God, we thank You for the countless saints who have gone before us and now share in Your eternal glory. May their faith inspire us, their courage strengthen us, and their love guide us closer to You. Help us to live each day with humility, compassion, and devotion, so that we too may one day share in the joy of Your heavenly kingdom. Amen.

October 28
Feast of Saints Jude Thaddeus and Simon

Today, the Church commemorates the feast of Saints Jude Thaddeus and Simon, two of the twelve apostles chosen by Jesus Christ to spread His Gospel to all nations.
Saint Jude Thaddeus, often called the “Patron Saint of Hopeless Cases,” is remembered for his unwavering faith and intercession in times of great difficulty and despair.
He is traditionally believed to have preached the Good News in Mesopotamia and Persia, courageously bringing hope and conversion to countless souls.
Saint Simon, known as “the Zealot,” is believed to have shared in this same missionary journey, zealously proclaiming the message of Christ despite persecution.
Together, these two apostles bore witness to the transforming power of faith and steadfast devotion to God’s mission.
Their lives remind the faithful of the enduring strength that comes from trust in divine providence and the courage to follow Christ, even in adversity.

Prayer:
O God, through the intercession of Saints Jude Thaddeus and Simon, grant us the grace to remain steadfast in our faith and courageous in our witness to Your truth. May their example inspire us to trust in Your mercy, especially in moments of trial and uncertainty. Strengthen our hearts to live as true disciples, proclaiming Your love and goodness to all. Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

October 22

Today we commemorate the feast of St. John Paul II, one of the most beloved and influential popes of the modern era.
Born Karol Józef Wojtyła on May 18, 1920, in Wadowice, Poland, he was elected pope on October 16, 1978, becoming the first non-Italian pope in over 450 years.
His inauguration took place on October 22, 1978, a date now celebrated as his feast day. While it is common for a saint’s feast to be observed on the day of their death—seen as their entrance into eternal life—October 22 was chosen to highlight the beginning of his extraordinary papal ministry, during which he proclaimed boldly, “Do not be afraid! Open wide the doors for Christ.” This message became a defining theme of his pontificate and a rallying call for the Church and the world.

St. John Paul II served as pope for over 26 years, making his one of the longest pontificates in Church history.
He was a tireless missionary pope, visiting more than 100 countries and reaching out to people of every background and faith.
Known as the “Pope of the Family” and the “Pope of Mercy,” he championed the dignity of every human life, promoted the sanctity of marriage and family, and had a deep devotion to Divine Mercy.
He also played a key role in the fall of communism in Eastern Europe, especially in his native Poland, and was instrumental in shaping the Church’s moral and social teaching in the modern world.

St. John Paul II survived an assassination attempt in 1981 and famously forgave his attacker, demonstrating the mercy and compassion he preached.
After years of declining health due to Parkinson’s disease, he died on April 2, 2005, and was mourned by people of all faiths across the globe.
Miracles attributed to his intercession—including the healing of a French nun from Parkinson’s disease and a Costa Rican woman from a brain aneurysm—led to his beatification in 2011 and canonization on April 27, 2014, by Pope Francis.

He is now venerated as the patron saint of World Youth Day, young Catholics, and families.
His legacy lives on through his writings, teachings, and the lives he touched through his witness to Christ.

Prayer:
St. John Paul II, faithful shepherd of Christ’s Church and fearless witness to the Gospel, intercede for us. Teach us to open our hearts to Christ, to trust in Divine Mercy, and to love with courage and truth. Strengthen our families, inspire our youth, and help us walk always in the light of faith. Amen.

October 22

Today we commemorate the feast of St. Salome, one of the faithful women who followed Jesus during His public ministry and remained with Him through His Crucifixion and Resurrection.
She is traditionally identified as one of the myrrh-bearing women who came to anoint the body of Jesus and was among the first to witness the empty tomb.
According to some traditions, St. Salome was the mother of the apostles James and John and the wife of Zebedee, placing her in close relationship with Jesus and the early Church.
As a devoted disciple and mother, she is honored as the patron saint of mothers and those who have lost children, offering an example of strength, faith, and perseverance in sorrow.
In the Roman Catholic Church, her feast is celebrated on October 22, while the Eastern Orthodox Church commemorates her on the Sunday of the Myrrh-bearing Women, the second Sunday after Easter.

Prayer:
St. Salome, faithful follower of Christ and devoted mother, intercede for us that we may remain steadfast in love and faith, even in times of sorrow. Guide all mothers with your example of courage and devotion, and bring hope to those who mourn. Amen.
