Following the devotional with Elder Jackson last week, members of the Morong Rizal Philippines Stake gathered for a follow-up missionary and members training entitled “Helping Others Stay on the Covenant Path.” The training was led by 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗮𝗽𝗮, 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗼 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆, together with his wife, Sister Papa, and with the support of the missionaries serving in the Morong Stake.
The training opened with remarks from 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗼, 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁, who emphasized the vital role of missionaries and members working together. He reminded leaders and members that the work of salvation moves forward most powerfully when unity, cooperation, and shared responsibility guide missionary efforts.
President Papa emphasized the importance of using inspired guides to strengthen new and returning members, reminding leaders and members alike that retention is not a program, but a Christlike responsibility rooted in love, consistency, and genuine care. He taught that the success of missionary work depends greatly on the members, highlighting that lasting conversion happens when members actively welcome, fellowship, and strengthen new and returning members.
Sister Papa shared a powerful message about multigenerational families blessed by the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. She testified that when even one individual chooses to magnify their calling, generations can be changed—families strengthened, covenants honored, and testimonies passed down through faithful examples.
The training actively involved ward and stake leaders through role-playing activities designed to improve how members welcome friends, investigators, and new and returning members. These practical exercises highlighted simple but meaningful ways to help others feel seen, valued, and supported as they walk the covenant path.
In his closing remarks, President Reyes, Second Counselor in the Morong Stake Presidency, shared a touching personal experience of how missionary work blessed his wife’s family. He recounted how the faith of one elder, who taught an individual named Alvin, led to a legacy of faith—now including family members sealed in the temple, grandchildren serving missions, and an entire family remaining active in the Church.
President Papa concluded with two heartfelt invitations to all:
• 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀, no matter how small they may seem
• 𝗕𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆, remembering that kindness and inclusion can change lives
This training served as a powerful reminder that the work of salvation and exaltation continues not only through preaching the gospel, but through loving, welcoming, and walking alongside one another—helping all remain firmly on the covenant path.
