There are two phases to the Lord’s Second Coming.
1. Jesus’ return for his Church, known as the Rapture.
2. Jesus’ return to the earth to establish his millennial kingdom.
The Rapture
(1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)
•Jesus appears in the air
•Jesus returns in secret, like a thief
•The Messiah returns for his Church
•The Lord comes as Bridegroom
•Jesus comes as deliverer
•Jesus delivers the Church from wrath
•Living believers receive immortal bodies as they are taken to heaven
•The world is left unjudged
•The world continues in sin
•Addresses only the saved (yung tumanggap lang kay Hesus)
•Can happen at any moment
•The devil continues his evil reign
The Second Coming of Jesus Christ
Christ's Return to the Earth (Revelation 19:11-16)
•Christ returns to the earth
•Jesus returns openly
•Jesus returns with his Church
•The Lord comes as King
•Christ comes as warrior and judge
•Jesus delivers believers (of the Tribulation) who endured wrath.
•The world is judged (Mt. 25:31-46)
•Righteousness is established
•Addresses the saved and unsaved
•Many signs must first occur
•The devil is cast into the abyss forever
