The parish community gathered for the Sixth Day Novena Mass, welcoming pilgrims and fellow faithful as we continue our preparation for the 31st Annual Parochial Fiesta in honor of Our Lady of the Assumption.

LOVE ALSO MEANS GUIDING AND DISCIPLINING | In his homily, Rev. Fr. Randy Nebria reminded the faithful that love is not always about protecting our children from every difficulty or giving them everything they want.

“Ayaw kahadlok nga ang bata mohilak tungod sa imong pagpanton niya. Masakitan man ka ug masakitan ang imong anak, apan imo kining gibuhat tungod ug alang nga siya makakat-on ug motubo.”

Sometimes, discipline is difficult for both the parent and the child. It may hurt to see our children cry, but there are moments when correcting them is necessary—not to hurt them, but to help them learn, grow, and become better.

True love does not simply give what a child wants or remove every hardship. It also teaches responsibility, patience, and the courage to face difficulties.

Just as God allows us to experience trials that help strengthen our faith, parents are also called to guide their children through correction and discipline with love.

Because sometimes, the love that allows a child to learn today prepares them to become stronger tomorrow.

WITHOUT GOD, WE CAN DO NOTHING | In his homily, Rev. Fr. Benedicto Ejares reminded the faithful that no matter how capable or strong we may be, we cannot truly bear fruit without God.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells us, "Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit.”This reminds us that bearing fruit requires surrender, letting go of our own ways and allowing God to work in and through us.

Sometimes, we think we can handle everything on our own. We rely on our own strength, plans, and abilities. But the Gospel reminds us that true growth and fruitfulness come when we surrender ourselves to God.

Without God, we can do nothing. With God, even our small efforts can bear fruit.

May we learn to trust God more, surrender what we cannot control, and allow Him to guide our lives so that we may become fruitful in faith, love, and service.
