Sunday Reflection | 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Matthew 14:22–33

“Lord, save me!” And immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught him.

In today’s Gospel, Peter steps out of the boat and walks toward Jesus on the water. But when he notices the strong wind, fear takes over, and he begins to sink. In desperation, he cries out, “Lord, save me!” Without hesitation, Jesus reaches out His hand and rescues him.

How often do we find ourselves like Peter? We begin with faith and courage, but when the storms of life become overwhelming, we become afraid and lose sight of the Lord. There are moments when we, too, feel like we are sinking—under our worries, struggles, disappointments, and uncertainties.

Yet today’s Gospel reminds us of something beautiful: when we call upon Jesus, He reaches out His hand. We may lose courage, our faith may become weak, and we may feel as though we cannot keep going, but the Lord never stops reaching for us.

Perhaps, in the midst of whatever storm we are facing today, our prayer need not be complicated. Like Peter, we can simply say:

“Lord, save me.”

And with faith, let us trust that the same Jesus who reached out to Peter continues to reach out to us today. When we are sinking, His hand is already there.

Lord Jesus, strengthen our faith when fear overwhelms us. Help us to keep our eyes on You and to trust that You will never abandon us. Amen.

HIGHLIGHTS | 26th Parish Fiesta

Earlier today, the parish community gathered in faith and thanksgiving as the Most Rev. Precioso D. Cantillas, SDB, DD, presided over the Solemn Pontifical Mass in honor of our beloved patron, Saint James the Apostle, as part of the celebration of the 26th Parish Fiesta.

The Eucharistic celebration was a profound expression of gratitude for God's countless blessings upon our parish throughout the years. United in prayer and fellowship, parishioners came together to honor our patron saint and renew their commitment to living out the Gospel through faith, service, and love.

As we celebrate this joyous occasion, may the example of Saint James the Apostle inspire us to become courageous disciples of Christ, steadfast in faith and generous in service. May this 26th Parish Fiesta strengthen our unity as a parish family and deepen our trust in God's guiding hand.

MATRON QUEEN 2026 👑

One of the highlights of our Parish Night in celebration of the 26th Parish Anniversary was the much-awaited Matron Queen 2026, an evening filled with joy, laughter, camaraderie, and the beautiful spirit of community.

More than a pageant, this event was a testament to the generosity, dedication, and active participation of our parish family. Through this fun-raising activity, we were reminded that when we come together in faith and fellowship, we can accomplish great things for our parish.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to all our candidates, sponsors, donors, organizers, volunteers, benefactors, parish leaders, and everyone who supported and attended this event. Your time, effort, talents, and generosity made this celebration a wonderful success.

May God bless each one of you abundantly for sharing your blessings and for helping strengthen the mission and ministries of our parish. As we celebrate 26 years of God's faithfulness, may we continue to grow as one family in Christ—united in service, strengthened by faith, and inspired by love.

IN PHOTOS | Highlights from SJAP’s Triple Celebration

Every July 16, the St. James the Apostle Parish of Cahagnaan community joyfully celebrates three special occasions: the Feast of our Segunda Patrona, Our Lady of Mount Carmel; the Opening Salvo for the Feast of our Patron Saint, St. James the Apostle; and the 26th Parish Anniversary.

The celebration began with a motorcade and culminated in a solemn Holy Mass, bringing together parishioners in prayer, thanksgiving, and fellowship.

As we mark these blessed milestones, may the loving intercession of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and the inspiring witness of St. James the Apostle strengthen our faith and deepen our commitment to Christ. May this anniversary remind us that the Church is not merely a building, but a living community united in God's love, called to serve, evangelize, and journey together in hope.

With grateful hearts, let us continue to build a parish rooted in faith, enriched by service, and guided by God's abundant grace. To Him be all glory and praise as we celebrate 26 years of blessings and look forward to many more years of faithful discipleship.
