Men are called to lead their families with the love of Christ and the heart of a servant. As husbands, they are entrusted with the responsibility to love, protect, provide for, and guide their families, always reflecting Christ's love for His Church.

As Scripture reminds us, "Husbands, love your wives just as Christ loved the church and gave his life for it” (Ephesians 5:25, GNT).

This calling carries great responsibility, but God never leaves husbands to fulfill it alone. The Lord strengthens them through His grace and through the support of the Christian community. May every husband faithfully embrace this vocation with humility, love, and perseverance.

Pope Leo has sent an Apostolic Blessing and a personal message to Couples for Christ (CFC) as the Philippines-born Catholic family ministry celebrated its 45th anniversary.

Founded in 1981 in Manila as an outreach of the charismatic community ‘Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon’ ("Joy of the Lord"), CFC has grown into one of the world's largest Catholic lay movements dedicated to strengthening family life and evangelization. Recognized by the Vatican's Pontifical Council for the Laity in 2000, the organization today has about one million members across its various ministries and serves in all 81 provinces and dioceses of the Philippines as well as 163 countries.

The anniversary celebrations culminated in a Mass at New Clark City Stadium, where more than 37,000 faithful gathered, making it one of the largest events in the movement's history.

During the Eucharistic celebration, Dario Gervasi read Pope Leo's message, conveying the Pontiff's closeness and blessing to the movement.

Celebrating under the theme "In the One, We Are One," the gathering highlighted CFC's enduring mission of building Christ-centered families and forming lay missionaries committed to supporting the Church's evangelizing mission around the world.

Marriage is not merely a partnership. It is a vocation. Through the sacrament of marriage, husbands and wives are called to serve God together, sharing the mission of lovingly shepherding the family He has entrusted to them. They become a “pastoral team.”

By virtue of our Baptism, we share in the common priesthood of the faithful. As husband and wife, we exercise this priestly mission first within our own home: leading our family in prayer, teaching and witnessing the faith, offering daily sacrifices of love and service, and guiding one another toward holiness. In this way, our home truly becomes a domestic church where Christ is known, loved, and followed.

As the spiritual shepherds of the family, we are called to care for each member with the heart of the Good Shepherd. This means loving with patience, listening with compassion, correcting with gentleness, and remaining faithful in leading our family closer to God. Together, we are accountable to Christ, the Chief Shepherd, for the care of the family He has entrusted to us.

May we embrace our priestly calling with humility and love, faithfully leading our families to know, love, and serve the Lord.
