GRACE: GOD'S POWER WITHIN
The Holy Spirit is called the Spirit of Grace.
The Spirit of Grace first and foremost causes you to look to the cross.
Zechariah 12:10 NIV
[10] “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.
Hebrews 10:29 NIV
[29] How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?
The Grace of God empowered Paul the Apostle to carry out his ministry.
1 Corinthians 15:10 NIV
[10] But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.
The Grace of God enables us to resist evil desires.
James 4:6
[6] But He gives us even more grace to stand against such evil desires. As the Scripture say, "God opposes the proud but favors the humble."
Grace is actually a teacher.
It teaches us to deny ungodliness.
Titus 2:11-12 NIV
[11] For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. [12] It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,
Hebrews 12:28
[28] Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear
Grace is the whole thing.
Grace is the answer.
His grace is sufficient.
2 Corinthians 12:7-9 NIV
[7] or because of these surpassingly great revelations. Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. [8] Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. [9] But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
Grace does not rid of our problems, it gives us the strength to endure it.
Grace does not rid of the flesh, it gives us the strength to subject it.
Grace does not remove all the temptations, it gives us the strength to flee from it.
Grace is all we need to overcome the weakness of the flesh.
Galatians 5:16-18 NIV
[16] So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. [17] For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. [18] But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Grace is freedom from sin.
Romans 6:14 NIV
[14] For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.
We are saved by grace.
Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV
[8] For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— [9] not by works, so that no one can boast.
Grace will ultimately take you to the place where you receive the fullness of the salvation in glory.
Grace is God doing for you what you could not do on your own through you.
You are not powerless to live the will of God.
You can live your life for the glory of God because you have the Grace within.
So, depend upon the power that God has given you within which is His presence to fulfill His will.
Philippians 2:13 NIV
[13] for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
