Joy is not only found when everything is going well. There can be joy even in the middle of challenges, uncertainties, and seasons that feel heavy. The joy that comes from God gives us strength to keep going, even when our circumstances have not yet changed. It reminds us that our strength does not come from having an easy life, but from knowing that God remains with us through every season.

When we choose to trust God in the middle, we can continue moving forward with hope instead of being overwhelmed by what we face. Our circumstances may change, but God’s presence remains constant.

Our Beloved Bishop Bro. Eddie,

Today, as you celebrate your 80th birthday, we thank God for your life and for the blessing you have been to so many people here in the Philippines and around the world.

We have heard you faithfully preach God’s Word and pray according to His Word, countless times through the years. We have seen your deep desire for people to know Jesus—the One who saves, heals, delivers, restores, and transforms lives.

You have been a spiritual father to us—evangelizing, discipling, and commissioning us to live out the full Gospel of Christ, with a deep dependence on the Holy Spirit. You have taught us not only through your preaching, but through the life you have lived before us.

Our prayer is that God’s faithfulness, which endures to all generations, will continue to be evident in your life and in the generations that follow you. (Psalm 119:90) May you continually experience the faithfulness of the God who keeps His covenant and surrounds you with His steadfast love. (Deuteronomy 7:9)

May you continue to taste and see that the Lord is good, and may He protect, strengthen, and fill you with the peace that only His presence can give. (Psalm 34:8)

We love you, Bro. Eddie. We thank God for you, and we give all glory to our Heavenly Father for what He has done through your life.

When God’s goodness breaks through, it does more than change our circumstances—it transforms our hearts and the way we live. Genuine goodness flows from a heart that has been changed by Christ, choosing to love sincerely, reject what is wrong, and hold on to what is right. It is not goodness for recognition or approval, but a life that reflects God’s character through our words, choices, and actions.

A transformed life becomes a testimony of what God can do. His goodness can turn a heart that was once empty into one filled with joy, and a life that was once going in the wrong direction into one that reflects His grace.

God’s goodness is not simply found in what He gives us but in who He is. His character is pure, holy, and completely trustworthy, with no evil or hidden intention. Even in difficult seasons, His goodness remains constant. Sometimes we see it through His protection, provision, answered prayers, or the simple blessing of waking up each day. As we learn to trust Him, we begin to personally experience that He is truly good.

Because goodness is a fruit of the Holy Spirit, God desires His goodness to be reflected through our lives. It should be seen in the way we act, respond, serve, and treat others—with sincere love, kindness, and a heart that chooses what is right.

Clinging to what is good means choosing to live according to God’s truth, even when what is wrong seems more comfortable or appealing. Goodness is not merely doing what others expect or being good when people are watching; it flows from a heart transformed by Christ. What is truly good is aligned with who God is and what He desires.

Our understanding of goodness may be limited to comfort, blessings, or immediate answers, but God’s goodness often involves growth, waiting, and becoming more like Christ

The cross is the clearest picture of God’s goodness and love. While we were still sinners, Christ willingly gave His life for us. At the cross, sin was confronted, forgiveness was made available, and grace was extended to those who did not deserve it.

Because of the cross, we have hope—not because life is always easy, but because God has already shown us how far His love will go. When circumstances are confusing, we can look back to Calvary and trust His goodness.
