The Memorial of Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church reminds us that Jesus entrusted His Mother to the Church while He hung upon the Cross. In the Gospel of John, Jesus said to the beloved disciple, “Behold, your mother,” revealing Mary as Mother not only of the disciples, but of all the faithful.
Celebrated on the Monday after Pentecost Sunday, this memorial highlights Mary’s loving presence in the life of the Church.
Mary “stood” faithfully beneath the Cross — a sign of courage, steadfast faith, and complete trust in God. Her lifelong “yes” to the Lord matured through suffering and love, leading her to become the Mother of all believers.
As Mother of the Church, Mary continues to guide us closer to Christ, teaching us to remain faithful in times of joy, trial, and sacrifice. May she help us grow in faith, hope, and love as true disciples of her Son.
