Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
— John 14:23 (KJV)

A lovely promise that demonstrates the extent of God’s love can be found in John 14:23. Jesus is emphasizing our response here: We will keep His word if we love Him. It’s about a love that drives us to obey His teachings, not mindless compliance.

Our first concern as Christians is having a personal relationship with Christ. That is addressed in this section. Everything comes down to our individual decision to love Him, which is demonstrated by our deeds.

Now, some people may experience difficulty. All of us have moments of weakness. Grace enters the picture at this point. Through faith in Christ, one can always access God’s love and forgiveness. The problem is that you can’t use that grace as a justification for disobedience. A sincere love for Jesus will inevitably inspire a desire to follow Him. It’s a voyage rather than a final destination.

Let us endeavor to strengthen our love and obedience while keeping this promise close to our hearts.

Trust in God’s grace, but also take responsibility for your actions. God desires a relationship with all, and with His strength, you can choose to follow Him. Be courageous and fight the good fight of faith!

We always want to call our parents, no matter how accomplished we are, no matter how old we are. Hearing their words of encouragement, "Well done!" We may be wildly successful, but we're always their sons or daughters.

Unfortunately, not everyone has such a relationship with their parents on Earth. But we can all have God as our Father, thanks to Jesus. We who follow Christ are brought into the family of God, for “ye have not received the spirit of bo***ge again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father” [Romans 8:15, KJV]. We’re now “heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ” (v. 17). We don’t speak to God as a slave but now have the freedom to use the intimate name Jesus used in His hour of desperate need, “Abba, Father” (v. 15; see also Mark 14:36)

Let us be thankful to the Lord for His overflowing grace and mercy. Every breath, step, and idea reflects His divine providence. May we value the gift of life and all of its blessings, seeing them as His generous providence.

As it is written, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning” [James 1:17 KJV].

Every believer should be devoted to prayer, but focusing on labels can sometimes take away from the heart of it all. Jesus taught us to pray to our Father in heaven, one on one.

"But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly."
— NKJV, Matthew 6:6

Jesus' life certainly embodied serving others and putting their needs before His own. That's the very essence of love. We can show our love for God too by following His example.

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."
— NKJV, John 13:34

Ask the Lord to guide you in showing your love through service, just like He did. He'll fill your heart with joy as you follow Him.
