Courageous Leadership (Joshua 1:1â9)
The preaching focuses on becoming a courageous leader by learning from the life of Joshua. Joshua, whose name means âThe Lord is Salvationâ or âYahweh Saves,â was chosen by God to lead His people after Moses. His story teaches that leadership begins with answering Godâs call. Just as Joshua accepted the responsibility God gave him, believers today are also called to lead and influence others according to Godâs purpose. A courageous leader does not refuse Godâs calling because of fear or uncertainty but responds with faith, obedience, and willingness to serve.
The word today emphasizes the importance of trusting God completely. Joshua 1:3â5 reminds us that God is faithful to His promises, His guidance, and His protection. Leaders must trust that God will fulfill what He has promised, direct them on the right path, and watch over them as they follow Him. When challenges arise, believers can have confidence that God will never abandon them but will continue to lead them according to His perfect plan.
Another key lesson is the call to be strong and courageous. Joshua was encouraged to be courageous in leading others, obeying Godâs Word, and walking closely with God. Effective leadership requires commitment, patience, accountability, guidance, and the willingness to carry responsibilities for others. Courage is not merely boldness; it is the strength to obey God even when circumstances are difficult. By meditating on and following Godâs Word, leaders can remain faithful and successful in fulfilling their God-given mission.
In conclusion, a courageous leader is someone who accepts Godâs call, trusts in Godâs promises, direction, and protection, and remains strong and courageous in serving and obeying Him. True leadership is rooted in humility and service, following the example of Christ in Matthew 20:26â28, where greatness is found in serving others. Therefore, to become a courageous leader, one must trust God wholeheartedly, walk faithfully with Him, and lead others with a servantâs heart.
