We celebrate today the Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord. Today, the Church rejoices in the great mystery of God’s self-revelation to the nations. In the child born in Bethlehem, the Father makes known His saving love not only to Israel, but to all peoples of the earth. Guided by the light of a star, the Magi journey from afar, representing the nations who seek truth and are drawn by grace toward the Savior of the world.

Epiphany is a feast of light and manifestation. God reveals His glory not in royal courts or displays of power, but in humilityβ€”through a child laid in a manger. The star that leads the Magi is a sign that God continues to guide those who sincerely search for Him. Their long journey teaches that faith often requires perseverance, trust, and the courage to follow God beyond familiar paths.

The gifts offered by the Magi unveil the identity and mission of Christ. Gold proclaims Him as King, frankincense acknowledges His divinity, and myrrh foreshadows His suffering and death. In their act of worship, the Magi recognize that this child is more than a newbornβ€”He is the long-awaited Savior, the Light who enters the darkness of the world.

The Epiphany also challenges the Church to reflect on her own mission. Having encountered Christ, the Magi return home by another way, transformed by their meeting with the Lord. Likewise, all who truly encounter Jesus are called to be changedβ€”to live differently, to love more deeply, and to bear witness to the light they have received.

As the Church celebrates the Epiphany of the Lord, she proclaims that Christ is revealed in every place where faith seeks Him: in the Eucharist, in the poor, in the stranger, and in the everyday moments of life. May this solemnity renew in us the desire to seek Christ with sincere hearts, to adore Him with humble faith, and to reflect His light so that all nations may come to know the joy of His saving presence.

O Christ, we adore You!
