As we commemorate today the finding of the relics of St. Philomena, we remember with gratitude two generous souls who, like Blessed Pauline Jaricot, have faithfully supported this apostolate with love and sacrifice.

One of our monthly sponsors has, for four straight years, sustained the operations of the apostolate without interruption. Even without meeting us personally, she trusted and continued to give faithfully. Today, she needs our prayers as she prepares to undergo brain surgery this coming June 2.

Another devoted sponsor, who faithfully gives yearly and even sponsored this year’s Feast of St. Philomena, is also carrying a heavy cross. Her infant granddaughter, Mayara Sylvia, is now in the ICU, while the child’s father, Michael John, recently underwent surgery due to thyroid carcinoma.

On this Feast of Pentecost, let us reflect on the words of St. Louis Marie Grignon de Montfort:

Mary is the perfect mold formed by the Holy Spirit to shape souls into the likeness of Jesus Christ. Those who entrust themselves to her are gently and faithfully transformed into Christ through grace, without distortion, for the Blessed Virgin is pure and immaculate.

How great is the difference between a soul formed merely by human effort and a soul surrendered to the workings of the Holy Spirit through Mary. One bears imperfections; the other reflects a faithful likeness of Jesus.

Today, newly registered members who begin praying their assigned decade will receive a plenary indulgence under the usual conditions. All members of the Universal Living Rosary Association will likewise share in the spiritual benefits of this feast.

May Mary, Spouse of the Holy Spirit, form in us the perfect likeness of Christ, that we may truly belong to Him.
