There is no internal misunderstanding within the Catholic Faith Defenders (CFD), particularly in CFD Luzon. The organization remains united, maintaining proper coordination, mutual respect, and clear communication among its members.
For the sake of truth and order, we issue this clarification:
The Catholic Faith Defenders (CFD) is a duly registered organization with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and operates under the guidance of the Church, in communion with and under the authority of the local bishops, especially within Luzon.
While any individual is free to identify as an apologist, such a claim does not automatically confer membership in the Catholic Faith Defenders. Membership in CFD is not self-proclaimed. It requires proper formation, recognition, and adherence to the organization’s established structure and ecclesial discipline.
All legitimate CFD members in Luzon have undergone the required series of formation and are expected to carry out their activities in coordination with, and under the supervision of, their respective parish priests.
At present, as a coordinator of a vicariate within our diocese, I have encountered refusals from three priests in light of recent issues that have circulated publicly. Although no formal statements have been issued regarding our pending requests to conduct apologetics formation in their respective parishes, these developments have significantly affected our mission and coordination efforts.
In view of this, we strongly urge the faithful to exercise discernment. If an individual claims to be a member of CFD, the following must be verified:
Have they undergone the official formation required by the organization?
Are they recognized by their local parish priest?
Do they adhere to the bylaws of CFD, including proper coordination with the nearest legitimate chapter?
If these essential requirements are not met, then such an individual cannot be recognized as a member of the Catholic Faith Defenders. They may identify themselves as apologists, but they have no authority to represent or speak on behalf of CFD.
This clarification is issued to preserve the integrity of the organization, protect the faithful from confusion, and ensure that all apostolic efforts remain in faithful obedience to the Church.
Pro Deo et Ecclesia.
