History-bits: A common passion: music, it is what the San Sebastian Chamber Singers withstood the test of time. Over the years, this youth non-profit church-based organization has instituted a culture of discipline, unity, and musicianship to its members as it also provides its services to the Catholic Church through singing. Conquering the local choral arena had been a long journey for the SSCS,
before they were organized champions of the PAGCOR choral competition in 2006, until they conquered the same title of the prestigious local competition Paskong himig sa Lungsod ng Pasig in 2010 and 2012, SSCS made its roots as the San Sebastian Parish Rondalla in 2001 where they trained singers out of its members to lead the string ensemble. Seven of its members have established a singing group in which the choir was born. As young enthusiasts, sacred music has been the foundation of their love of craft. They have been performing Afro-spiritual and classical compositions and arrangements on their early years. The group has also premiered works of renowned Filipino and foreign arrangers. Besides singing and instrumentation, the youth group has engaged in performing stage drama and spearheaded youth seminars and pilgrimages – all incorporated with music. The whole decade has been a venture of growth for SSCS, because of their wide-range of repertoire the group was recognized to be the church-based choir to incorporate dance and comedy into pop, ballad, OPM choral music to make a connection to their audiences. Today, the group is fresh and versatile combination of classical choral singing and on-stage humor and grace, with these, the group still aims to be the best church-based choral ensemble to delegate the Philippines in the international arena.
