Today the Church celebrates the Memorial of St. Peter Claver (1581-1654), who was born of a distinguished family in Catalonia, Spain. He became a Jesuit in 1604, and left for Colombia in 1610, dedicating himself to the service of black slaves. For thirty-three years he ministered to slaves, caring for the sick and dying, and instructing the slaves through catechists. Through his efforts three hundred thousand souls entered the Church. He is the Patron of the African Missions, proclaimed in 1896 by Pope Leo XIII.

Church celebrates the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Roman Martyrology states Mary was "of the lineage of Abraham, born of the tribe of Judah and of the progeny of King David, from whom the Son of God was born, made man by the work of the Holy Spirit, to free humanity from the ancient bo***ge of sin."

On Our Lady's birthday the Church celebrates the first dawning of redemption with the appearance in the world of the Savior's mother, Mary. The Blessed Virgin occupies a unique place in the history of salvation, and she has the highest mission ever commended to any creature. We rejoice that the Mother of God is our Mother, too. Let us often call upon the Blessed Virgin as "Cause of our joy", one of the most beautiful titles in her litany.

In accordance with the suspension, our Mass of the Holy Spirit scheduled for today is CANCELLED.

Fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love."

As a new academic year begins, the FEU Campus Ministry warmly invites you to join us for the Mass of the Holy Spirit tomorrow, September 4, 2026, 12:10 PM at the Our Lady of Fatima Chapel, to be presided over by Rev. Fr. Esmeraldo Enalpe, OFM.

Let us gather as one community to pray for wisdom, peace, and grace for the journey ahead. We look forward to praying with you.

ELEVATION OF MANILA AS AN ARCHDIOCESE
Today, we celebrate the 431st anniversary of the elevation of Manila as an Archdiocese, appointing Fray Ignacio Santibรกรฑez, OFM, as its first archbishop. Pope Clement VIII in a papal brief dated 14 August 1595 approved the elevation of the diocese of Manila into an archbishopric with three suffragan dioceses, namely those of Cebu, Nueva Caceres and Nueva Segovia. With the creation of these new dioceses, the Cathedral of Manila became the first Metropolitan Cathedral - the Mother Church of the country.

As we close another academic year, we take this moment to honor and thank our graduating student volunteers who generously offered their time, talents, and hearts in service to God and the FEU community through our various ministries. Like bees working together to build a honeycomb, every act of kindness, every prayer, and every service you rendered became part of something greater, a community rooted in faith, compassion, and love.

A bee may fly far, but it never forgets the hive where it found purpose, strength, and belonging.
