For the past weeks, the Manila Episcopal Area Cabinet has faithfully led our daily prayer intercessions beginning September 21, preparing our hearts for PINTIG 2026.
As we draw nearer to this sacred and joyous gathering, we now invite all church workers to join us in the 7 𝘿𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙋𝙧𝙖𝙮𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙤 𝙋𝙄𝙉𝙏𝙄𝙂.

💭Reflection
When Moses was delayed on the mountain, the Israelites became impatient. They could not see Moses, so they made something they could see the golden calf.

🙏 PRAYER
Gracious God, forgive us for the times we become impatient and look for substitutes when we cannot see what You are doing. Teach us to wait with faith, trust Your presence in the silence, and remember Your faithfulness when uncertainty makes us afraid. Keep our hearts anchored in You. Amen.

📖 Scripture: Matthew 21:33–46

💭Reflection
In the parable of the tenants, the owner entrusted his vineyard to others, but they eventually forgot that what they had was entrusted to them. They wanted to keep it for themselves and rejected the owner’s messengers.

Sometimes, we can do the same. We become so focused on what we have our time, opportunities, relationships, gifts, positions, or resources that we forget where they came from and whom they are meant to serve.

God’s blessings are not simply possessions to keep; they are gifts to steward. We may not control how much we are given, but we can choose what we do with it. 𝘍𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘴 𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘶𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦, 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦.

📖 Scripture: Matthew 14:13–20

💭Reflection
The disciples saw a huge crowd and thought, “𝘞𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩..” Five loaves and two fish seemed far too little for so many people.

We can feel the same way when life asks more from us than we think we can give, when our time, energy, resources, or strength feel limited. 𝘑𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘶𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦; 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴, 𝙬𝙚 𝙨𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙮 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙤𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙚 𝙖𝙡𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙮 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚.

What seems small in our hands can become enough in God’s hands. We may not be able to meet every need or solve every problem, but God can use our little acts of love, generosity, and faith to make a difference.

Gracious God, when we feel that what we have is not enough, remind us that You can work through even our smallest offerings. Teach us to give what we can with faith and trust You with the rest. Use our time, gifts, and resources to bless others. Amen.

MEA DMO Strengthens Disaster Preparedness Through Table-Top Exercise in Cavite

The Manila Episcopal Area Disaster Management Office (MEA DMO) conducted a Table-Top Exercise (TTX) and Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (BDRRM) Plan Review in Barangay 24, Libra, Cavite City on September 28, 2026, in partnership with the Philippines Annual Conference – Cavite and the Barangay Council. Approximately 30 community members and representatives participated in the scenario-based flood simulation and review of the barangay’s BDRRM Plan. The activity is part of MEA DMO’s continuing engagement with the community following the Community-Based Contingency Planning (CbCP) Workshop conducted in August 2025, with an emphasis on strengthening and simulating Early Warning plans, communication protocols, evacuation plans, and the community's overall disaster preparedness.

During the activity, MEA DMO revisited key lessons and outputs from the previous CbCP workshop and oriented participants on the conduct and purpose of the Table-Top Exercise. The Barangay Captain and Barangay Council led the scenario-based flood simulation, allowing participants to observe and assess how existing preparedness and response mechanisms would function during a possible disaster.
Rev. Jeremiah M. Gabriel then facilitated a review of the BDRRM Plan, focusing on the four thematic areas of DRRM: Prevention and Mitigation, Preparedness, Emergency Response, and Recovery and Rehabilitation. The discussion provided an opportunity for participants to share observations, identify gaps, and offer recommendations for improving and contextualizing their plans.

Significant highlights of the activity were the distribution of Emergency Go Bags to high-risk families and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Barangay 24, Libra, and the North East District of the Philippines Annual Conference, strengthening the continuing partnership between the barangay and the United Methodist Church. The partnership includes the maintenance and continued functionality of the Public Awareness Equipment, CCTV, and Early Warning System tarpaulin provided through a program grant of MEA DMO sponsored by UMCOR - United Methodist Committee On Relief, as well as collaboration on future Disaster Risk Reduction and Creation Care initiatives. Overall, the activity affirmed that the BDRRM Plan is a relevant and continuing tool for community preparedness and emphasized the importance of regularly reviewing, practicing, and improving disaster plans based on the community’s actual risks, experiences, and needs.

This will not be the end of the engagement. The Barangay, Philippines Annual Conference Cavite - PACC, and MEA DMO will continue to explore and plan a possible mitigation project on Solid Waste Management to address the barangay’s existing waste management concerns. This initiative provides an opportunity to integrate Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation by promoting shared responsibility for a safer, cleaner, and more disaster-resilient community.
