JULY 31 - SOLEMNITY OF ST. IGNATIUS OF LOYOLA

Today, we celebrate the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus. His life reminds us that faith is a lifelong journey of learning to recognize God's presence in the ordinary moments of our lives, surrendering our hearts to Him, and responding to His call with courage and generosity.

Before his conversion, Ignatius pursued a life of worldly success, honor, and glory. But after suffering a severe injury in battle, he spent months recovering. During that time, he read about the life of Christ and the lives of the saints. What began as a season of physical healing became the turning point of his spiritual life. The ambitions that once consumed him gradually gave way to a deeper desire, to seek, love, and serve God above all else.

His life invites each of us to reflect on a simple but profound question:

"What is God calling me to?"

As we honor St. Ignatius today, may we have the courage, humility, and trust to let go of our disordered attachments and allow God to lead us where He desires us to be. May we remain open to the possibility that the life we have planned for ourselves may not be the life God has lovingly prepared for us. And may we always seek not our own will, but His, trusting that His plans lead to our true joy and fulfillment.
