is Pentecost Sunday

On this Pentecost Sunday, the Church joyfully celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Apostles gathered in prayer (cf. Acts 2:1–11). Fifty days after Easter, the promised Advocate came down from Heaven like a mighty wind and tongues of fire, filling the hearts of the faithful with divine grace and courage. Through the gift of the Holy Spirit, the Church was born and sent forth to proclaim the Gospel to all nations.

Let Us Pray:
+Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy faithful and enkindle in them the fire of Thy love. Send forth Thy Spirit, and they shall be created, and Thou shalt renew the face of the earth. O God, who didst instruct the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant that by the same Spirit we may be truly wise and ever rejoice in His consolation. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

we commemorate the Memorial of Saint Rita of Cascia.

St. Rita of Cascia was an Augustinian nun, widow, and mystic known as the “Saint of the Impossible.” Born in Italy in the 14th century, she lived a life marked by suffering, forgiveness, and deep union with Christ. Despite enduring a difficult marriage, the loss of her husband and children, and many trials throughout her life, St. Rita remained steadfast in prayer, charity, and trust in God’s mercy. Through her humility and perseverance, she became a powerful witness to reconciliation, patience, and unwavering faith. She is especially remembered for receiving a wound on her forehead resembling a thorn from Christ’s crown, a sign of her profound devotion to His Passion. Her life reminds the faithful that no burden is too great when entrusted to God, and that hope can flourish even in the midst of suffering and impossibility.

Let us pray:
+St. Rita of Cascia, faithful servant of Christ and patroness of impossible causes, intercede for us before the Lord. Teach us to persevere in faith amid trials, to forgive with generous hearts, and to trust always in God’s loving providence. May your example inspire us to embrace the Cross with humility and to remain steadfast in prayer and charity. Amen.

St. Rita of Cascia,
Pray for us!
