Brother Yun’s story is a powerful reminder of what it can mean to remain faithful when following Christ comes at a tremendous cost.
Known for boldly sharing the Gospel in China, Yun experienced intense persecution because of his Christian faith. He has spoken about being arrested, beaten, and imprisoned on multiple occasions. Yet even behind prison walls, he says his faith in Christ remained his source of strength.
One of the most extraordinary parts of his testimony is his account of escaping from prison. Yun describes praying before walking out of a heavily guarded facility, passing through doors and by guards without being stopped. He believes what happened was not human strength or cleverness, but an answer to prayer and an intervention from God.
His testimony continues to challenge Christians who live with religious freedom. It raises a difficult question: Would our faith remain just as strong if following Jesus became costly?
For Yun, persecution did not become a reason to abandon Christ. Instead, it became part of the story he now uses to encourage believers around the world to remain faithful, courageous, and committed to sharing the Gospel.
His life also reminds us to remember Christians who are suffering for their faith today—not simply with sympathy, but through prayer.
“The greatest hindrance to the gospel is not persecution, but comfort.”
May we never allow comfort to make us forget the mission Christ has given us.
