The Philippine Catechetical Apostolate and Religious Education (PhilCARE) Foundation working committee led by Mo. Ma. Jesusa Enginco, OP (PhilCARE Treasurer/Executive Director) met with the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) President Fr. Albert N. Delvo, Ph. D. and Fr. Raymond Arre, Chairperson of the Superintendents Conference for a special consultation meeting held on Wednesday, 29 November 2023, at Siena College in Quezon City.

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines' Episcopal Commission on Catechesis and Catholic Education ( CBCP ECCCE ) and the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) have been coordinating through PhilCARE Foundation, Inc. in sourcing out and managing the funds for programs that help promote the development and welfare of catechists and religion teachers since the establishment of the foundation in the jubilee year 2000.

*Most Rev. Daniel O. Presto, DD, Chairman of ECCCE, called in sick that day and wasn't able to join the special meeting.

Congratulations, Fr. Ben!

The Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) Board of Trustees, through the Membership and Awards Committee, has decided to confer the 2023 CEAP Pro Deo et Patria Award to Fr. Bienvenido F. Nebres, S.J..

Fr. Ben is a Professor and Former Ateneo de Manila University President. He also received the 2011 National Scientist award and was a former Provincial Superior of the Society of Jesus in the Philippines. His contributions and achievements are pivotal in founding several academic and socio-political groups in the country.

The Pro Deo et Patria award is the highest award the Association gives to deserving individual/s who manifest an exemplary attitude of love for God and country and his/her faithfulness to Catholic teachings as part of service to God. The awardee must be seen as a model of Christ the Teacher.

The awardee will receive an icon of Christ the Teacher, a Bronze Plaque, and a cash prize of Php 100,000.

As the day comes to an end, let us remember the late +Archbishop Leonardo Z. Legaspi, O.P., former Chairman of the Episcopal Commission on Catechesis and Catholic Education (1977-1988, 1994-2003) and Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Caceres (1983-2012). He is known as "The ARCHITECT of PHILIPPINE CATECHESIS in Our Time."

Archbishop Legaspi passed away on August 8, 2014, Feast Day of St. Dominic de Guzman (Founder of the Order of Preachers).
