๐ As one of the Wisdom books, Proverbs provides us with sound and keen instructions and insights on how we deal with certain matters, few of which are dishonesty, compromise, fairness, justice, and righteousness. Although Proverbs 11:1 specifically uses commercial terms, principles from this passage are not limited to its contexts at their time, as so from the rest of Scripture - timeless and relevant.
๐ Has there been any instance where you engaged in dishonest dealings unwittingly? What concrete, honest ways will you do at work this week as you follow God's standard of being fair and right?
๐ญ It is noteworthy that God did not refer to false balance as simply illegal or evil but abominable or detestable, which is the same judgment He places on idolatry and certain sexual transgressions. This shows that the Lord cares for how we manage monetary matters, but He cares more strongly in how our hearts are being in view of finances.
As believers being transformed daily by God's grace, we act with integrity in our dealings because then, we manifest our trust in the sovereign Lordship of Him who provides for us and blesses us when we delight Him with how true we are with our ways.
๐ O, Lord Most High, you are a God of impartiality and balance, and you command us to be fair and just in all that we do. Forgive us when we compromise at times, regardless of our consciousness of the matter. Empower us through the Spirit to let your pure honesty be visible in our actions. In Christ's name, we pray. Amen.
