Today we celebrate the Feast of St. Mark the Evangelist. Tradition mentions that John Mark was an apostle of Peter and through his various sermons, the compilation then would eventually become the Gospel of Mark.

Mark's Gospel shows a unique audience. By preaching to the Romans, he introduced Christ beyond the Jews and towards the Gentiles of Rome. In a time of intense persecution, he showed Christ as the suffering servant and the Son of God beyond the multitude of pagan gods.

In the Gospel today, we are called to bear witness like Mark. In the middle of persecution and suffering, we are still called to bear the truth of the Gospel. To share in the suffering of Christ and be with him in glory. Just as Nero did not kill the Christians of Rome, the world today cannot kill the Christians of today.

At the top of a hill in Pangasinan at the Diocese of Lingayen Dagupan one sees a majestic Church and adorned at the High Altar is no other than Our Lady of Manaoag. Bedazzled in many jewels from devotees near and far, Our Lady sits as not only a watcher but a protectress of the whole of Manaoag.

For it because of Our Lady that Manaoag has gotten its name. It was a farmer who was heading back home was the first who saw this apparition of the Blessed Mother holding a rosary in her right and the Child Jesus at her left calling the farmer that she wanted a Church built in her honor on where they were standing.

Manaoag stems from the prefix, "ma" which means "to" and the root word "taoag" which means "to call." This is why Our Lady can also be called The Virgin who Calls.

As we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Rosary today, let us be reminded of Our Lady who calls, that she calls each and every one of us to be part of her Son's family. That when Our Lady calls, we listen.

Viva Birhen ng Manaoag! Ipanalangin mo kami!

Today is Good Friday, it is Good because from the cross hung the salvation of the world. Yes, the Church mourns but it is through that mourning that we also rejoice for the heavy sacrifice that Christ had paid for us. Through his death, we are reunited again with God. The veil is torn, God is available to all.

Today marks the most momentous event in all of Christendom for it is today that the Church honors Christ's Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem and partake in the greatest act of love: his passion, death, and resurrection; it is where the mysteries of salvation are accomplished and fulfilled.

Holy Week starts with Palm Sunday. It is in this that we commemorate Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem, where the people welcomed Him with palm branches and praised Him as king. This joyful event, however, also marks the beginning of Jesus' Passion and suffering. It shows the contrast between human praise and the true meaning of discipleship.

This Sunday reminds us that following Christ requires faithfulness, even during times of suffering. Palm Sunday invites us to reflect on our commitment to Jesus and encourages us to remain loyal to Him, not only in moments of joy but also in moments of sacrifice and hardship. In Philippine streets, palm processions weave faith into community life.

Waving blessed palms through daily trials becomes a quiet promise of endurance, turning fleeting cheers into lasting fidelity that mirrors Christ's journey to the Cross.

Pope Benedict XVI writes: "Just as the Lord entered the Holy City that day on a donkey, so too the Church saw him coming again and again in the humble form of bread and wine. The Church greets the Lord in the Holy Eucharist as the one who is coming now, the one who has entered into her midst. At the same time, she greets him as the one who continues to come, the one who leads us towards his coming." It is in this hope that as we begin the season of Holy Week, may we allow ourselves to see Christ in the Eucharist. It is not only in the blessing of the palms or the singing of the Pasyon, or the enactment of the senakulo that one finds the presence of Christ but it is through receiving and welcoming him in the Eucharist. May this season be one of reflection, one of repentance, and one of revelation. While this week may seem great for staying at home or going at beaches, may we remember the spirit of this season as something sacred and somber. For it is in this season the Church remembers, the Church mourns, and the Church rejoices.

During this season of preparation, reflection and repentanceโ€”itโ€™s a time to find the right path and open our hearts to God.

From March 4 to 6, Thomasians gathered for the University-wide Retreat entitled: ๐€๐‹๐€๐ ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”: ๐๐š๐ง๐š๐ง๐š๐ฆ๐ฉ๐š๐ฅ๐š๐ญ๐š๐ฒ๐š, ๐๐š๐ -๐š๐ฌ๐š, ๐๐š๐ -๐ข๐›๐ข๐ , a time to reflect deeply on faith, hope, and love. In prayer, reflection, and shared silence, we were reminded that faith is not only felt in moments of comfort but chosen most in times of uncertainty and challenges, when love asks us to persevere beyond our own struggles. Keeping the Alab ng Puso alive means offering our hearts and our everyday efforts back to God, letting faith guide us, hope strengthens us, and love sustains us.

โ€œ๐‡๐จ๐ฉ๐ž ๐๐จ๐ž๐ฌ ๐ง๐จ๐ญ ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐š๐ฉ๐ฉ๐จ๐ข๐ง๐ญโ€ (Romans 5:5) echoed through these moments, reminding us that God is always presentโ€”ready to walk with us through every challenge, ready to lead us in light. In these days of encounter and renewal, UST Pax Romana Central Coordinating Council, Thomasian Volunteers, and other Religious Organizations journeyed with fellow Thomasians as part of a community willing to be present, willing to help one another grow in faith, hope, and love. In the seen and unseen, the flame of hope continues to ignite, showing us that even the smallest gestures of love and service can make a lasting impact and difference.

๐ˆ๐ง ๐จ๐ฆ๐ง๐ข๐š ๐œ๐š๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐š๐ฌ โ€” in all things, love! Let this be the light that guides us, reminding us that every act, decisions and choices, can be offered in love and hope.
