Furlough has given me opportunity on Tuesdays to be involved with men who are in their 1st year of training at FBC Murrieta's Training Center. Pray for (L-R) Daniel, Drew, Josh and Tim. I've really enjoyed getting to know these men and their hearts to train with excellence and serve well in the church. Who knows maybe some of them or others will be called to career missions or to serve with us in Manila. I'd love for them to come over for a short-term assignment of our new Project Truth-bearers to teach modular intensive courses to pastors in the provinces around Manila. Thanks for praying!

While on furlough in CA and doing the work of reconnecting with supporters, support raising and recruiting for future partnership in ministry, I am privileged to serve at Faith Bible Church Murrieta as a mentor in their Training Center, which I graduated from in 2011.

I presently have 6 men in TC year 1 to encourage, give insight on assignments and communicate with while I am here. We meet on Tuesdays. I am also working with the TC year 3 guys on Mondays, alongside other mentors, when in town.

Please pray for me as I give encouragement and insight to help these men become equipped for ministry (Ephesians 4:12 - "for the equipping of the saints for the work of service...")

For every Biblical Hermeneutics course I require certain assignments that lead students through the phases and steps of the exegetical process leading to expositional sermon prep. To help them I offer Jump Start sessions so that in class they begin to interact with the passage while I'm there to lend assistance.

Today we did Jump Start after they selected their passage from about 16 choices. I was really excited by two things: 1. Most of them took all the time allotted to figure out their passage of study. They really were serious about it. 2. When we moved into the "Survey the Text" phase of Building a Solid Expository Sermon, there was complete silence and hard work taking place for the whole 45 minutes! These photos are indicative of their focus.

They will get more time for the same, all the way through the first phase called "Survey the Text: Observing the Landscape of a Passage". I'm really jazzed at their serious intentional effort to work the exegetical plan. Tomorrow is the last day and I will continue lecturing on the discerning of figures of speech, typology and symbols. Thoroughly enjoying my friendship and ministry partnership with these pastor-preachers: Ced, Joe and Yutaka. Also with pastors Roi and Nelson who were unavailable. We all wore grey barongs today and we didn't even talk about it ahead of time! Yutaka preached today on 2 Cor. 5:9-11 about rewards, judgment and the importance of living the Christian life with integrity. I'm sure glad I have had almost 3 years of working with these guys and look forward to more when we return. Thanks for praying.

Special Revelation Class Presenter Today - Please be in prayer as our beloved Pastor Vincent Castillo of our Emmanuel Baptist Church will come to Revelation class today in about 45 minutes to present a special message overview of the book of Revelation. It's a joy for me to have him do this as he has a unique power point presentation using Prezi and it is very helpful and supportive of all that I've been teaching the men. He will have the whole 2 hours to do this. Thanks for praying! Hopefully pictures to follow!

We hope to do other types of "interviews" with other students as well. Please be in prayer for BBSI as they are searching for a new president since Dr. Rosendo Collado will retire at the end of the school year 2017.

Plus, with our furlough this upcoming school year, there are 6 upper level key courses they must find replacement teachers for my absence alone!
