In this place, we gather not simply to celebrate, but to harvest the fruits of years of faithful work, formation, and commitment to Parish Migrant Ministry.

On this occasion, we honor 𝟰𝟬 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝟭𝟰 𝗱𝗶𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗟𝘂𝘇𝗼𝗻 whose dedication, perseverance, and excellence have helped form and strengthen Parish Migrant Ministry.

This harvest of faithful service comes to life through the 𝗚𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗸𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗸𝗼𝗱 𝗢𝗙𝗪—honoring parishes that have faithfully walked with migrants, OFWs, and their families.

At the heart of this celebration is our theme: 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗡 𝗝𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗦𝗘 𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗟𝗗𝗥𝗘𝗡.

In this spirit, the alumni of the CBCP-ECMI TOSDOSA Awards will also have a special participation, bringing a living expression to the theme and inviting us to reflect on the call to listen to, accompany, and involve the young as partners in the mission of the Church.

From years of formation comes a harvest. From faithful service comes a witness. And from reaching even just one comes a mission that bears fruit.

𝗢𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗣𝗢𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝟰𝟬𝗧𝗛 𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗠𝗜𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗦’ 𝗦𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗬

The poster represents the theme “Even Just One of These Children” through a rich and symbolic portrayal of children and families affected by migration.

The large protective hand symbolizes care, protection, support, and a helping hand extended to those who are vulnerable.

The children represent innocence, dignity, and the future; the families and people on the journey reflect the human reality of migration.

The boat symbolizes the challenges and uncertainty of the migrant journey, while the dove conveys peace, hope, and a new beginning.

The Cross represents Christ’s presence, faith, and the Church’s accompaniment, while the flowing blue and golden elements and light suggest movement from hardship toward hope.

Together, all the visuals convey a powerful message that even one child matters and deserves to be welcomed, protected, accompanied, and cared for with dignity, compassion, and love.

𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗘, 𝗕𝗥𝗢𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗭𝗔𝗥𝗗𝗢 “𝗘𝗗” 𝗡𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗚: 𝗔 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲, 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗵, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗢𝗙𝗪𝘀

Elizardo “Ed” Narag was one of the great OFW leaders of Cagayan—a pioneering migrant ministry leader in the Archdiocese of Tuguegarao, a dedicated OWWA OFW leader, and, above all, a faithful servant of the Church and the Filipino migrant community.

He was also one of the instrumental persons in the formation of the ECMI Luzon Diocesan Migration Desks Coordinating Committee (DMDCC) in Region 2, helping strengthen collaboration among dioceses and advance the pastoral care of migrants and OFWs in the region.

𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗘, 𝗕𝗥𝗢. 𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗭𝗔𝗥𝗗𝗢 “𝗘𝗗” 𝗡𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗚: 𝗔 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲, 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗵, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗢𝗙𝗪𝘀

Elizardo “Ed” Narag was one of the great OFW leaders of Cagayan—a pioneering migrant ministry leader in the Archdiocese of Tuguegarao, a dedicated OWWA OFW leader, and, above all, a faithful servant of the Church and the Filipino migrant community.

As an OFW himself, he understood deeply the hopes, struggles, sacrifices, and dreams of our overseas Filipino workers and their families. He devoted his life to serving and empowering them, helping bridge the Church and government in advancing the welfare and dignity of OFWs.

His service was more than leadership—it was a vocation rooted in faith, compassion, and love for people. Through his commitment to migrant ministry, he helped build a stronger culture of accompaniment and care for our OFWs and their families.

His passing leaves a space that cannot easily be filled, but his legacy of service, faith, and love for our OFWs will continue through the people he served, the lives he touched, and the mission he helped pioneer.

Thank you, Brother Ed, for a life dedicated to service. Thank you for being a faithful servant of the Church, a champion of our OFWs, and a true brother in the migrant ministry.

The CBCP-ECMI Luzon grieves the loss of a dear brother and co-worker in the mission for migrants and OFWs. We extend our deepest sympathy and prayers to his family, loved ones, and the entire migrant ministry community of the Archdiocese of Tuguegarao.

May you rest in the loving embrace of our Lord, Brother Ed. Your earthly mission has ended, but your legacy of faith, service, and love for our OFWs will live on.

On September 27, 2026, the Catholic Church in the Philippines, through the 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗶𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 (𝗘𝗖𝗠𝗜) of the 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗕𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽𝘀’ 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 (𝗖𝗕𝗖𝗣), will spearhead the celebration of the 𝟰𝟬𝘁𝗵 𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗠𝗜𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗦 𝗦𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗬 (𝗡𝗠𝗦).

The 𝗡𝗠𝗦 is a special Sunday dedicated to honoring the 𝘀𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀, 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗶𝘀𝗺 of 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 (𝗢𝗙𝗪𝘀) and their families.

The celebration coincides with the 𝟭𝟭𝟮𝘁𝗵 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗶𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗴𝗲𝗲𝘀 (𝗪𝗗𝗠𝗥), observed by the Catholic Church on the last Sunday of September.

𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗡 𝗝𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗦𝗘 𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗟𝗗𝗥𝗘𝗡

This is the 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲 chosen by 𝗣𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗼 𝗫𝗜𝗩 for the 𝟭𝟭𝟮𝘁𝗵 𝗪𝗗𝗠𝗥, drawing from the Gospel according to Matthew: “Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me” (Mt 18:5).

With this choice, the 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝘆 𝗙𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 calls attention to the new challenges brought about by the current migration situation, particularly those that threaten the 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 and other young people. He reminds the Church of the 𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 to find effective responses and to uphold the Gospel’s call to 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱.

On September 27, simultaneous celebrations will be held in 𝗱𝗶𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝘀 throughout the Philippines as the Church comes together to honor our migrants, accompany their families, and renew our commitment to the 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 of migrants and their children.

“Even just one of these children” is the theme chosen by Pope Leo XIV for the 112th World Day of Migrants and Refugees (WDMR).

Published in the Bulletin of the Holy See, the theme is a clear reference to verse 5 of chapter 18 of the Gospel according to Matthew: “Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me”.

With this choice, the Holy Father wishes to highlight the new challenges posed by the current migration situation, which seriously threaten the rights and dignity of the youngest among us, and the need to find urgent and effective solutions.

In this regard, the Church’s concern for migrant children calls us to the duty of welcome, as taught by the Gospel.

This year, as usual, the WDMR will take place on the last Sunday of September, namely the 27th.

Pope Leo XIV releases the theme for the 2026 World Day of Migrants and Refugees, which focuses on the need for pastoral care for minors on the move.

The Catholic Church’s World Day of Migrants and Refugees will focus this year on minors on the move, recalling the duty to welcome each one of them as the Gospel teaches us.

“Even just one of these children” is the theme that Pope Leo XIV has chosen for the 112th edition of the day, which will be marked on Sunday, 27 September 2026.

The decision was announced Thursday by the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development.

The title is a reference to Matthew 18:5: “Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me."
“With this choice, the Holy Father intends to express the Church’s concern for minors directly involved in migration, recalling the duty to welcome each one of them as the Gospel teaches us,” the statement says.

The Dicastery also notes that this "is not the first time that the Popes have spoken authoritatively on this issue, but the current migration situation presents new challenges that seriously threaten the rights and dignity of the youngest among us and require urgent and effective responses. Therefore, this is not a matter of discussing numbers or percentages, because 'even just one' has the highest value.”

Pope Leo will release a message a few weeks ahead of the World Day.
Origins of the World Day
The origins of the World Day of Migrants and Refugees can be traced to 1914, a few months before the outbreak of World War I. Touched by the drama of millions of Italians who had migrated abroad since the beginning of the 20th century, Pope Pius X called on all Christians to pray for migrants.

A few months later, his successor Pope Benedict XV instituted the Day of the Migrant to spiritually and economically support pastoral work for Italian emigrants.

In 1952, Migrant Day took on a broader and more international connotation, and Churches around the world were called upon to choose a date to celebrate the day during the liturgical year.

St. John Paul II was the first pontiff to issue, each year since 1985, a message drawing attention to some of the specific realities and difficulties of people on the move, calling the Church to action.

In 2004, the Pontifical Council for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant People extended the day to refugees, calling it the World Day of Migrants and Refugees.

At the behest of St. John Paul II, since 2005, the World Day of Migrants and Refugees has been celebrated by the Universal Church on the 2nd Sunday after the Epiphany.

On the 104th World Day of Migrants and Refugees, January 14, 2018, Pope Francis announced that the day would be marked henceforth on the last Sunday of September.
