Living Water: A Call to Care for Our Common Home

Caritas Philippines joins the Apostolic Vicariate of Tabuk (AVT) in launching the Season of Creation 2026, a time to deepen our commitment to prayer, ecological conversion, and concrete action for the care of our common home.

With this year’s theme, “Living Water,” we are reminded that water is a gift essential to life and a powerful sign of God’s life-giving presence. It also calls us to recognize the connection between environmental degradation, human suffering, and social injustice.

The launch brought together AVT pastoral workers, the Caritas Philippines Team, and other participants in reflection, prayer, and a shared pledge to turn our commitment into action.

As one community, may we become channels of living water—protecting creation, promoting peace, and working together for a more just and sustainable world.

In times of calamity, bayanihan reminds us that no one has to face hardship alone.

Through the partnership of Caritas Philippines and Ben&Ben, a total of 1,300 food packs were distributed to calamity-affected communities in the Dioceses of Antipolo, Imus, and San Pablo, bringing much-needed support and hope to Filipino families in need.

Thank you, Ben&Ben, for turning compassion into action and bringing Bayanihan Alay sa Kapwa to life. Together, we continue to connect communities, share hope, and stand with those most affected. 🤝❤️

The Social Action Network (SAN) Executive Committee gathered to deepen its shared vision and strengthen the SAN as a People’s Power Movement.

The People's Power Movement (PPM) aims to bridge the gap between the marginalized majority and the minority who control key resources.

Anchored on localization and community participation, organizational strengthening, evidenced-based programming, and resource mobilization, and integrated partnerships, the meeting explored how existing programs and partnerships can work together to empower marginalized communities and strengthen local ownership.

The gathering also highlighted Bayanihan Alay sa Kapwa (BASK) as a proposed framework for people’s participation and social transformation— representing an urgent paradigm shift beyond ayuda and fund-raising to a sustainable long-term approach, a clear expression of synodality grounded on culture and spirituality.

The discussions emphasized the need for government support and resources, including policy pushes for longer term systemic changes, tapping key partnerships aligned with guidelines of the social teachings of the Church , the significant role of the youth and inclusivity of marginal sectors.
The leadership team likewise recognized that pastoral statements and letters are not enough- there must be mobilization.

From consultation to concrete action, the SAN continues to move forward in building a stronger, more participatory, and sustainable network—connecting Caritas Philippines to communities together to transform social action and advance genuine human development.
