HISTORY
Unstoppably driven by his newfound passion for Jesus, Eddie Villanueva officially broke ties with his activist advocacies during the heat of the Martial Law era in the Philippines. In 1978, amid political turmoil and social unrest, he founded the Jesus Is Lord Church from a handful of 15 students who were equally curious and passionate about God. He trained them, led them and together, by the power of the Holy Spirit, they propelled JIL to global status, expanding across the Philippines and around over 50 other countries today. The JIL Church fulfills its God-given destiny of evangelizing every generation that is to come. Thus, on December 16, 1989, evolving from the School Outreach Ministry, the Kristiyanong Kabataan para sa Bayan Movement was formed by Bro. KKB Movement’s first major youth gathering was held at the YWCA auditorium in United Nations Avenue, Manila. It turned into a once-a-month affair which never failed to turn in the numbers, not leaving a single seat empty. Fired up and revved up, JIL Church’s youth ministry freshmen obviously couldn’t get enough of God! In no time, the monthly youth fellowships became combinations of weekly prayer meetings and youth services especially designed for high school and college students and young professionals. The members were so motivated that they eventually stepped out to conduct Bible studies, evangelistic crusades, trainings and seminars in their schools. But the passion of KKB’s eighties-nineties freshmen couldn’t just be bottled up in Manila’s campuses. In less than five years since its founding, the Movement was able to launch a full-scale church-planting mission to Albay province (southeast from Manila). The island-hopping and mountain-trekking debut mission trip paid off as JIL Church’s various chapters in Albay remain today. Indeed, a legacy that shall stand timeless for JIL youth’s history. Drawing strength and experience from these formative years, KKB carried on becoming what it was meant to become: a Christian youth movement with a patriotic kick. The nineties stretch gradually immersed KKB members to socio-political intercession and participation. It has never kept mum on pressing values and morals issues such as po*******hy and corruption in the government. Its programs became especially designed to motivate and inspire the Filipino youth to take an active part in community building. Various humanitarian outreaches such as gift giving activities, medical and dental missions, bloodletting drives, hospital and jail visitations have also become the Movement’s means of getting across God’s message of hope and love in different parts of the country. Through the years, KKB Movement has not ceased as a dynamic youth force in transforming young people by the power of God. Its socio-political involvement echoes the fundamental visions of JIL Church. And most essentially, it carries on the work upon which JIL started: campus evangelism. Through life-changing leadership programs and community outreaches, KKB Movement trains and develops young people who are passionate about Truth, Justice, and Righteousness. The Kristiyanong Kabataan para sa Bayan. A movement with a purpose.
