Sunday after Theophany, of Zaccheus. Today we hosted Fr. Sorin Dan from Romania. And also on Panglao, Fr. George from OCA, Tennessee. It's fun that he met in our church another family from his own city Nashville. Two American neighbors met each other in the Philippines in the Russian church 🙂

In Serbia, in addition to personal saints and patrons of the fatherland, there is also the phenomenon of a family saint (patron of the family). On his feast day, a rite called "slava" ("glory") is performed, which includes special prayers and the blessing of kulich and koliva. Since the parishioners of the Iveron Parish in Manila include Orthodox Serbs, this rite has been performed by the parish priests for several years. October 26, the patronal feast of Iveron icon, one of four in a year. This day in 1648 a copy of this icon was solemnly met in Moscow, becoming a Guardian of the city gates, same as it is in Mt Athos. These gates are the entrance to the Red Square, opposite of the St Basil Cathedral.
