𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐌𝐘𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐘 𝐖𝐄 𝐋𝐈𝐕𝐄
The word "mystery" is often the most overlooked part of our faith. In an age that demands data, proofs, and answers, we treat mysteries like puzzles waiting to be solved. But the Paschal Mystery isn't a problem for the intellect; it is a reality for the soul. We often ask ourselves: Why?
Why did Jesus fulfill His Father's will with such radical, agonizing precision? Was He simply following a script written centuries prior by the prophets, or was there something deeper in the choice? We look at the ultimate sacrifice and wonder why the price of our redemption had to be paid in blood and sorrow. From the thirty pieces of silver in Judas’ hand to the sound of the rooster crowing after Peter’s third denial, we ask why these betrayals were necessary parts of the divine plan.
Perhaps the most human question of all is the question of time. Why did humanity have to wait? From the quiet of the Manger to the thunder of Calvary, why did salvation take years to arrive?
𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱.
In the telling of the Passion, we don't just find a history lesson; we gain our purpose. We consistently pray to the heavens, asking for the strength to live as Christians, yet we forget that the very "whys" we struggle with are the things that give our faith its substance. Without the Paschal Mystery, we wouldn't be here. Our rituals would be empty, and our faith would be obsolete, a mere philosophy of a man who died and stayed dead.
If we had walked the dusty roads of Galilee during Jesus' time, we would have been just as confused as the Apostles. We would have asked why He spoke in parables instead of plain commands, or why He performed signs that many chose to ignore. The mystery teaches us that God does not owe us an explanation; He offers us His Presence.
So, put your trust in God, in our Lord Jesus Christ. From the isolation of His temptation in the desert to the desolation of His Passion, and finally to the radiant explosion of His Resurrection, He has done more than fulfill a prophecy. He has saved us from our sins, established His Church, and invited us into a mystery that doesn't end with a solution, but with an invitation to follow Him.
