King James Version
13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

While Samuel initially looks for a king based on physical stature (like Saul), God chooses David, who is young and overlooked. This reinforces that God looks at the heart rather than outward appearance.

Yes, there is the Reality of Life
But there is Hope in the Hand of God!

Job 14:7-9
7 “At least there is hope for a tree:

9 yet at the scent of water it will bud
