Memorial of St. Tarcisius
August 15

Today, we remember St. Tarcisius, a young martyr of the early Church and a beloved patron of altar servers.

Tradition tells us that Tarcisius was entrusted with carrying the Holy Eucharist to Christians who were unable to attend the celebration of the Mass. When he was confronted and pressured to surrender what he carried, he refused to give up the Blessed Sacrament. He endured violence and ultimately gave his life while protecting the Eucharist.

His young life teaches us a powerful lesson: our love for Jesus should not depend on our age. Tarcisius reminds every altar server and every Catholic that the Eucharist is not something ordinaryโ€”it is Christ Himself, worthy of our deepest reverence, love, and devotion.

May St. Tarcisius inspire our young people to serve the Church faithfully, approach the altar with humility, and remain courageous in witnessing to their faith.

St. Tarcisius, young martyr and patron of altar servers, pray for us! ๐Ÿ™

A double celebrations!

SOLEMNITY OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

Today, the Church celebrates the glorious Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Maryโ€”our belief that, at the end of her earthly life, Mary was taken body and soul into the glory of Heaven.

Maryโ€™s Assumption reminds us that her faithful โ€œyesโ€ to God was not in vain. She who carried Christ in her womb and remained faithful to Him throughout her life now shares in the glory of her Son. She stands as a sign of hope and a model of faithful discipleship, reminding us that our ultimate destination is also Heaven.

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ MEMORIAL OF ST. TARCISIUS

Today we also remember St. Tarcisius, the young martyr and patron of altar servers. Tradition remembers him as a boy who courageously protected the Holy Eucharist, choosing to suffer rather than allow the Blessed Sacrament to be desecrated.

His witness reminds us that even the young can possess extraordinary courage and love for Jesus in the Eucharist.

May the example of St. Tarcisius inspire every altar server to serve at the altar with reverence, humility, and genuine love for Christ.

Prayer to Our Lady of the Assumption

Heavenly Father,
on this glorious Solemnity of the Assumption, we thank You for the gift of the Blessed Virgin Mary, whom You raised body and soul into the glory of Heaven.

Mary, our Mother and Queen, you who faithfully said โ€œyesโ€ to God and remained steadfast beside Jesus through joy and suffering, pray for us. Teach us to trust Godโ€™s will, to remain faithful in trials, and to keep our hearts fixed on Heaven.

Intercede for our families, our loved ones, the sick, the suffering, and all those who need Godโ€™s grace. Bring our prayers before your Son, Jesus, and lead us always closer to Him.

When we are weary, strengthen us.
When we are afraid, give us courage.
When we lose hope, remind us that Heaven is our true home.

Our Lady of the Assumption, pray for us.
Mary, Mother of God, pray for us.
Mary, Queen Assumed into Heaven, intercede for us.

May we one day share with you in the eternal joy of Heaven, through Christ our Lord.

Amen. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿค

The 4 Marian Dogmas

In the Light of the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿค

The Catholic Church professes four Marian dogmasโ€”truths concerning the Blessed Virgin Mary that are firmly taught by the Church and rooted in Divine Revelation, Sacred Scripture, and Sacred Tradition. These dogmas do not place Mary above Christ; rather, they point us more deeply toward who Jesus is and what God has accomplished through Him.

They reveal Mary's unique relationship with God and her role in the mystery of salvation. On the Solemnity of the Assumption, these four dogmas can be seen as a beautiful story of God's grace: Mary was prepared by grace, became the Mother of the Savior, remained wholly dedicated to God, and was finally received body and soul into heavenly glory.

1. ASSUMPTION OF MARY ๐ŸŒน

The Assumption is especially celebrated today, August 15. It teaches that:

โ€œThe Immaculate Mother of God, the ever-virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory.โ€

This dogma was solemnly defined by Pope Pius XII on November 1, 1950, in Munificentissimus Deus.

The Assumption did not begin in 1950. The definition formally confirmed a belief that had been deeply rooted in the Church's liturgy, prayer, theological reflection, and the faith of Christians for centuries.

Mary's Assumption is the culmination of her earthly journey. She who carried Christ in her womb, stood faithfully beneath His Cross, and remained united with Him is now glorified with Him in Heaven.

It also gives us hope. Mary's glorification points toward the destiny God promises to His faithful people: eternal life and the resurrection of the body.

The Assumption tells us that Heaven is not merely an ideaโ€”it is the destination for which God created us.

2. IMMACULATE CONCEPTION ๐Ÿค

The Immaculate Conception was solemnly defined by Pope Pius IX in Ineffabilis Deus on December 8, 1854.

It teaches that Mary, from the first moment of her conception, was preserved from original sin by a singular grace of God, through the merits of Jesus Christ.

Mary's holiness, therefore, was not something she achieved independently of God's grace. She was saved by Christ in a unique and extraordinary way.

The Immaculate Conception helps us understand why Mary was prepared for her unique mission as the Mother of the Savior. The woman who would give her complete โ€œyesโ€ to God was herself the recipient of a singular gift of grace.

And on the Solemnity of the Assumption, we see where that grace ultimately leads: the woman preserved from sin is now glorified body and soul in Heaven.

3. MARY'S DIVINE MOTHERHOOD ๐Ÿ‘‘

Mary's Divine Motherhood was solemnly affirmed at the Council of Ephesus in 431, which proclaimed her as Theotokos, meaning โ€œGod-bearerโ€ or โ€œMother of God.โ€

This does not mean that Mary existed before God or that she is the source of Jesus' divinity.

Rather, it protects the truth about Jesus Christ: Jesus is one divine Person, the eternal Son of God, who truly became man. Therefore, the woman who gave birth to Jesus according to His humanity is truly the Mother of God incarnate.

Mary's title, Mother of God, ultimately points us to the mystery of the Incarnation.

And on the Assumption, we celebrate the glory of the woman who once carried the Savior of the world in her womb and is now exalted in Heaven with Him.

The Mother of the Lord is also our spiritual mother, continually pointing us toward her Son: โ€œDo whatever He tells you.โ€

4. PERPETUAL VIRGINITY ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

The Church also professes Mary as Ever-Virginโ€”before, during, and after the birth of Jesus.

The doctrine emphasizes the miraculous conception and birth of Christ and Mary's unique and total dedication to her divine mission.

The Church teaches that Jesus was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, without human father, and that Mary's virginity remained intact in the birth of Christ. This teaching was reaffirmed in the ancient tradition of the Church, including the Lateran Synod of 649, and was reiterated by the Second Vatican Council.

Mary's perpetual virginity points beyond Mary's physical virginity to the mystery of Christ's Incarnation and her complete dedication to God's plan.

Her entire life was oriented toward God.
