N E W S || Manila Archbishop Encourages Faithful to Listen to the Struggles of the Youth in Message of Solidarity

Manila Archbishop Jose F. Cardinal Advincula stands by those injured and traumatized by the shooting at Ateneo de Zamboanga University in his Message of Solidarity.

In his message, he calls the faithful to not only look at the wounded safety caused by this act of violence but to listen deeply to what the tragedy tells about the struggles that the youth of today face.

"We need to listen to them, not only when they speak loudly, but especially when they suffer quietly. We need to create spaces where they can speak without fear of judgement, seek help without shame, and know that they are valued and loved."

Cardinal Advincula expresses his hope that in turning to prayer in this time of grief, that it may lead to united action.

He adds, "Together, let us strengthen a culture of care, compassion, dialogue, and accompaniment so that violence and hatred may never have the final word.”

On August 23, St. Peter the Apostle Parish joyfully celebrates the 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐫. The altar is at the heart of our Eucharistic celebration—the sacred table where we gather as one parish family to encounter Christ, listen to His Word, and receive Him in the Holy Eucharist. It reminds us of Christ’s loving sacrifice and calls us to offer our own lives in faith, thanksgiving, and service to God and His people.

On this special occasion, we give thanks for the altar that has witnessed countless prayers, sacrifices, thanksgiving, and celebrations of faith. May it continue to be a sacred place where hearts are renewed, faith is strengthened, and our parish community is drawn closer to Christ.

We are especially blessed to celebrate our Misa Mayor at 6:00 PM, with 𝐑𝐞𝐯. 𝐅𝐫. 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐥 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐁. 𝐇𝐮𝐢, Parish Priest of Nuestra Señora de La Soledad, San Nicolas, Manila, and Vicar Forane of the Vicariate of Sto. Niño, as our celebrant.

We warmly invite everyone to join us in this solemn celebration. Let us gather around the altar as one parish family, give thanks to God, and celebrate Christ who unites us in one faith and one Eucharistic community. May the altar always remind us that Christ is at the center of our parish, our worship, and our lives.
