Today, we celebrated the Mass of the Holy Spirit, marking the opening of Academic Year 2026–2027.

During the Holy Mass, Fr. Christmar I. Daguno led our students and employees in an interactive reflection and meditation, inviting everyone to pause, reflect, and renew their faith as we begin another academic year.

May the Holy Spirit continue to guide, inspire, and strengthen our entire community throughout this new journey. 🙏✨

As we begin a new academic year, let us gather as one community in prayer and thanksgiving, seeking the guidance, wisdom, and strength of the Holy Spirit.

“Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful and kindle in them the fire of Your love.”

Join us in the Mass of the Holy Spirit as we entrust Academic Year 2026–2027 to God’s loving care and ask for His blessings upon our students, faculty, staff, and the entire Perpetualite community.

MAY 22 — MEMORIAL OF ST. RITA OF CASCIA

On May 22, we celebrate the Memorial of Saint Rita of Cascia — the saint lovingly known as the Patroness of Impossible Causes.

St. Rita’s story is not a story of an easy and peaceful life. It is a story marked by tears, sacrifice, unanswered questions, and silent suffering. She desired to enter religious life at a young age, but instead was given into marriage. Her husband was known to be harsh and difficult, yet Rita responded not with hatred, but with patience, prayer, and forgiveness. Later in life, she experienced the painful loss of her husband and children. Imagine carrying that kind of grief, yet still choosing to remain faithful to God.

That is why so many people feel close to St. Rita. She understands wounded hearts. She understands family problems, broken relationships, long seasons of waiting, and prayers that seem unheard. She reminds us that holiness is not about having a perfect life — it is about remaining faithful even when life hurts.

There are moments when we all carry “impossible” situations:
a healing that has not yet come,
a family problem that never seems to end,
a prayer we have repeated for years,
a pain we silently carry behind our smiles.

And sometimes, we become tired. We begin to think:
“Maybe God has forgotten me.”
“Maybe things will never change.”
“Maybe this is hopeless.”

But the life of St. Rita reminds us that God still moves even in situations that seem beyond repair. The Lord can bloom flowers in places we thought had already died. He can bring peace to troubled hearts, healing to deep wounds, and light into our darkest nights.

St. Rita did not become a saint because she avoided suffering. She became a saint because she allowed suffering to lead her closer to Christ instead of farther away from Him.

Today, on her Memorial, may we surrender to God the situations we can no longer fix on our own. May we learn to pray with perseverance, to forgive with courage, and to hope even when the future feels uncertain.

And if your heart is tired today, this is your reminder:
God is still listening.
God is still working.
And no prayer offered with faith is ever wasted.

St. Rita of Cascia, patroness of impossible causes, pray for us.

PATRON SAINTS OF THE IMPOSSIBLE

Patron saints of the impossible serve as powerful intercessors during times of dire need, offering hope and guidance in seemingly insurmountable situations.

1. St. Rita of Cascia, known as the "Saint of the Impossible," is celebrated for her steadfast faith and forgiveness, often invoked for help in impossible circumstances.

2. St. Jude Thaddeus, the patron of hopeless cases and lost causes, provides comfort to those facing desperation.

3. St. Gregory of Neocaesarea, a miracle-working bishop, is revered for his role in converting entire communities, symbolizing divine intervention in the face of the impossible.

4. St. Philomena, a young martyr credited with numerous miracles, is called upon when all else fails. These saints inspire faith and perseverance, reminding us that even the most challenging situations can be overcome through divine aid.
