Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception (December 8)

“O Mary, conceived without sin,
pray for us who have recourse to you. Amen.”

Today we honor our Blessed Mother for her humble and loving “yes” to God’s will. In her Immaculate Conception, she was prepared from the first moment of her existence to be the holy and spotless vessel who would bring Jesus, Emmanuel, into the world for our salvation.

Let us repeat this short invocation often throughout the day, and conclude with a heartfelt Hail Mary.

Holy Mary, pray for us.

Prayer in the Time of Moral Floods

O Lord, our God,
You calmed the stormy seas
with a word.
Today, we are surrounded
by floods not of water,
but of lies, injustice, and apathy.
Truth is silenced, the innocent suffer,
and the poor are swept away
by greed and corruption.

We turn to the
Holy Face of Jesus,
bruised and disfigured.
In His suffering face,
we see the cost of sin.
Sin disfigures and
Greed destroys.

Lord,
do not hide Your face from us.
Let Your truth rise
like a standard against the enemy.
Let the floodwaters of evil
be turned back by Your Spirit.

Give us the grace to repent,
the courage to repair,
and the love to restore.
Amen.
