SHEC Celebrates Feast of St. Hannibal Mary, Silver Jubilee, and 20th Anniversary
The St. Hannibal Mary Empowerment Center (SHEC) community gathered on June 1 to celebrate the Solemnity of St. Hannibal Mary, alongside two major evens for the community.
Morning Procession and Eucharistic Celebration
The day began at the Rogationist Seminary in Merville Park, Paraรฑaque, where some of the SHEC community leaders participated in the Transitus of Father Founder. The morning activities included a solemn procession, the blessing of the statue of St. Hannibal Mary, and a Holy Eucharist.
During the homily, Fr. Ariel, alongside main celebrant Fr. Joseph Balagtas, challenged the faithful to embody St. Hannibal Maryโs legacy: a passion for prayer for vocations and compassion for the poor. Organized by Fr. Ronaldo Victoria, the morning event brought together the Union of Prayer for Vocations (UPV), Rogate youth, seminarians, postulants, religious sisters, friends, and newly installed village officers.
Evening Milestones Anniversaries and "PUSO"
The celebrations continued into the evening at the SHEC community in Pasay, marking a triple occasion: the feast day, the 20th Foundation Anniversary of Phase 2, and the 25th Silver Jubilee of Fr. Arlene Gumanganโs consecration to religious life.
During the Holy Mass, Fr. Arlene shared a moving reflection centering his 25-year vocation journey on the concept of "Puso" (Heart), addressing an audience of family, friends, the Dominican Sisters, and community members. The celebration also formally inducted the newly elected servant leaders of the community. The evening was attended by the Episcopal Vicar of Pasay, Fr. Edgardo C. Coroza, Fr. Aljohn Provido, and the postulants. The celebration concluded with a fellowship program featuring food, songs, and dances, reinforcing the community's spiritual fraternity, shared history and ongoing commitment to the poor.
