YOUTHFUL REFLECTIONS
August 16, 2026
20th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Today’s Gospel reminds us of the power of persistent faith. The Canaanite woman continued to approach Jesus despite being challenged and seemingly ignored. She did not walk away. She continued to believe that Jesus could help her.
Sometimes, we also experience moments when our prayers seem unanswered. We may feel that God is silent, distant, or that our situation is not changing. But the Gospel reminds us: God is not asking us to give up. He is asking us to trust.
Faith is not about having all the answers. It is about choosing to believe even when we cannot see what God is doing.
Keep praying.
Keep trusting.
Keep believing.
Keep going.
Because sometimes, the greatest miracle begins with simply not giving up.

JUST IN: The Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, has appointed Most Rev. Midyphil B. Billones, D.D., Metropolitan Archbishop of Jaro, as Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Kabankalan.

JUST IN: The Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, has appointed Most Rev. Midyphil B. Billones, D.D., Metropolitan Archbishop of Jaro, as Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Kabankalan.

The appointment, made public today through CBCP News, was announced in a letter from the Dicastery for Bishops dated August 11, 2026, and released this Friday.

As Metropolitan Archbishop and Apostolic Administrator, Archbishop Billones will shepherd the Diocese of Kabankalan—one of the suffragan dioceses of the Archdiocese of Jaro—in a "caretaker capacity" until the Holy Father appoints and installs a new bishop.

We accompany Archbishop Billones with our prayers and support as he tends to the wider flock entrusted to his care. Likewise, we lift up the Local Church of Kabankalan in prayer, that the Lord may soon grant them a new shepherd who will minister and journey with them after the Heart of Jesus.

‎Matthew 14:13-21
‎
‎Jesus went to a quiet place, but the crowd followed Him. Even though He could have rested, He chose compassion. He saw the people’s needs and He healed them. This reminds us that God sees us too. In seasons when we feel tired, overlooked, or forgotten, God still notices. His heart is always full of love for His people, and He is never too busy to care for us.

‎When evening came, the disciples saw a big problem: there were too many people, and the food is not enough. All they had was 5 loaves and 2 fish. It felt small and not enough. But Jesus said, “Bring it to me.” He took it, blessed it, and broke it. And somehow it fed over 5,000 people with leftovers. This teaches us that God doesn’t ask for a lot. He just asks us to give Him what we have. Our little faith, our little resources, our little time. When we surrender it to Him, He multiplies it for the good of everyone.

‎What stands out is that Jesus let the disciples help pass out the food. He could have done it alone, but He included us in the work. That means God wants to use us too. We may not be able to solve every problem, but together we can pray, encourage, serve, and share. God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things through His power.
‎
‎So today, let us trust God with our “not enough.” When we feel empty or overwhelmed, let’s remember this story. We don’t have to have everything figured out. We just need to bring what we have to Jesus. He takes the broken, blesses it, and makes it more than enough for us and for the people around us. And He always leaves some left over.

YOUTHFUL REFLECTIONS
July 12, 2026
15th Sunday in Ordinary Time

The Gospel for today (Mt 13:1-23) teach us the art of listening. We must be willing to listen to when God speaks to us. As a Catholic apologist and altar server, this is one of the things that hit me the most. Intellectual pride is a dangerous mindset.; "Mr. know it all" is against all of the teachings of God.

This Gospel reminds me that when I study, I have to listen and see what God has to say and speak to me as I learn His Word and Truth. God wants us to listen to His plans for our lives. If we really love him, we would listen to Him, our first lover. God speaks to all of us - all we need is to listen and give our attention and understanding to Him. This is listening - with humility and openess to God’s voice above all voices. I pray that we all have a heart that is willing to listen, not just with our ears.
