On August 2, 2026, District 8 of Near North Cebu held its District Election at the National Shrine of St. Joseph, Mandaue City, hosted by the parish. The election was participated in by the Implementation and Pastoral Committees from the Vicariate of San Fernando Rey, Liloan and Vicariate of St. Joseph, Mandaue, with the Commission on Youth of the Archdiocese of Cebu serving as the Electoral Committee, together with Fr. JO, Vicariate of St. Joseph, Youth Director.

Following the talk, the youth entered into the prayerful atmosphere of the Taizรฉ Prayerโ€”an evening of meditative chants, Scripture, silence, and contemplation. Together, we experienced God's presence in stillness and strengthened our communion as one Church.

| Brief History of the Host Parish

As we gather for the Vicariate Grand Taizรฉ Prayer, let us get to know the parish that will warmly welcome us.

The Archdiocesan Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Fatima in Basak, Mandaue City was established on February 19, 1976, to serve the growing Catholic community. Through the dedication of its priests, volunteers, and faithful parishioners, it has become a place of prayer, worship, and service for countless generations.

In 1993, the parish was elevated as the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, recognizing its role as a center of Marian devotion in the Archdiocese of Cebu. As it celebrates its Golden Jubilee, the shrine continues its mission of proclaiming Christ, strengthening the faith of God's people, and inspiring hope through the loving intercession of Our Lady of Fatima.

May this sacred place remind us to deepen our relationship with God as we come together in prayer and reflection.
