Today we joyfully commemorate the birth of Blessed Frédéric Ozanam (April 23, 1813), visionary founder of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. On this same day in 1833, the Society was born — a movement of faith and charity that continues to serve the poor across the world. May his legacy inspire us to live courageously in charity and compassion

Today, on Easter Sunday, we commemorate with immense joy the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which represents the triumph over death and the hope of eternal life. The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul joins the Christian community on this day as we light the Paschal Candle together, symbolizing Jesus as the “light of the world.” Our commitment is that the world, too, may “rise again” through charity and social justice, as taught by our founder, Frédéric Ozanam, the principal precursor of the Church’s social doctrine.

As members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, we stand united with the wider Vincentian Family – the Congregation of the Mission, the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, and the Children of Mary Immaculate–Vincentian Marian Youth (CoM-VMY) – in our shared mission to serve those most in need. Through attentive listening, open exchange of ideas, and mutual support, we nurture a spirit of compassion and solidarity. Together, we amplify our impact, recognizing that through collaboration, the Society can extend greater hope, care, and service to the communities we serve.

Beyond material aid lies a greater gift: 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆. In every encounter, dignity is affirmed, hope is renewed, and Christ is found in one another. The Vincentian mission continues, one encounter at a time.

SSVP-Cebu recently donated study chairs to CTU-Consolacion to support students and help them study better, focus more, and feel supported in their education.

More than just giving chairs, this is about reaching out and building connections with the community. Small acts like this remind us that when we help one another, we make learning and growth possible for everyone.

As a Vincentian organization, this reflects our mission of love through service and action-showing care, sharing what we can, and standing with the communities we serve.

𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐏𝐚𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐦 (𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐨𝐩𝐞) | 𝑯𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝑵𝒐. 1

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul - Cebu, in partnership with Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion - Mandaue, has officially turned over the very first Balay Paglaum, a symbol of hope made possible through compassion and collaboration. What once stood as a fragile shanty has now been transformed into a simple yet beautiful home, just as Nanay Rosita lovingly described it. More than a physical structure, the house stands as a testament to how faith, service, and community can come together to restore dignity and hope.

The journey that led to this project was truly providential. The team had no plans to pass through the area, yet they were guided to witness the difficult living situation of Nanay Rosita. What began as an unexpected encounter soon became a mission of compassion, and before long, a new home was built for her.

The house blessing was presided over by Rev. Fr. Francisco “Coco” Ferreras, CM, Spiritual Director of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Cebu and Parish Priest of San Roque Parish - Subangdaku in Mandaue City. Joining him in this meaningful celebration were the members of the St. Michael Conference and the Bl. Rosalie Rendu Conference of Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion - Mandaue, Inc., together with the Sister Servant, Sr. Ma. Liza Ruedas, DC. Their presence reflected the spirit of unity and service that made this project possible.

Finally, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to this meaningful endeavor. We thank the National Council of Society of St. Vincent de Paul Philippines (SSVP Philippines) for their trust and guidance, the Navares Family for their generosity of time, effort, and resources, Mr. Roy Reformina for water connection sponsorship and other needs, Mr. Rene Crisostomo and Atty. Juril Broka Patiño for defending and protecting the rights of Nanay Rosita, and the many individuals who quietly offered their support behind the scenes. Through your kindness and dedication, a house was built, and more importantly, hope was restored.

With grateful hearts, we celebrate the blessing of our new office - a place we can truly call home, where we may gather, plan, and grow together in service to those in need.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Philippines (SSVP Philippines) National Council of the Philippines for their constant guidance and support. We are deeply thankful to our Vincentian priests through St. Vincent Seminary, Inc., and to all the priests of San Roque Parish - Subangdaku for generously sharing their space with us during our journey.

Our sincere appreciation also goes to the SVdP Sheboygan for their generous support, which helped turn this dream into reality. Without your kindness and generosity, this milestone would not have been possible.

We are especially grateful to Fr. Geowen Porcincula, CM for his invaluable assistance in helping us realize this vision.

SSVP Cebu is truly blessed by the guidance and unwavering support of Fr. Francisco "Coco" Ferreras, CM, whose leadership helped bring our dream to life.

We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Mme. Irene "Yhen" Ignacio for her quiet yet steadfast support and for working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the success of this endeavor.

𝑷𝒂𝒌𝒊𝒈𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒃𝒊𝒈𝒊𝒕: Vincentian Family of Cebu Disaster Response Collaboration

In the aftermath of the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that struck Northern Cebu, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul together with the rest of the members of the Vincentian Family of Cebu responds not only with hands that serve, but with hearts that pray. Grounded in our mission to walk with the poor and the suffering, we bring the light of Christ to our brothers and sisters in distress.

Moved by the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul and Bl. Frederic Ozanam, our relief operations have been directed toward the most underserved and overlooked communities - those who have received little to no aid. With the help of our partners, donors and volunteers, we’ve brought essential goods, comfort, and hope to these areas, trusting in Divine Providence to multiply our efforts. Let us continue to pray, serve, and remain present to those most in need.
