What is the significances of the 40 weekdays before Easter?

The 40 days of Lent, which precedes Easter is based on two Biblical accounts: the 40 years of wilderness wandering by the Israelites and our Lord's 40 days in the wilderness at which point He was tempted by Satan.

Each year the Church observes Lent where we, like Israel and our Lord, are tested. We participate in abstinence, times of fasting, confession and acts of mercy to strengthen our faith and devotional disciplines. The goal of every Christian is to leave Lent a stronger and more vital person of faith than when we entered.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church states, "The seasons and days of penance in the course of the liturgical year (Lent, and each Friday in memory of the death of the Lord) are intense moments of the Church's penitential practice. These times are particularly appropriate for spiritual exercises, penitential liturgies and pilgrimages as signs of penance, voluntary self-denial such as fasting and almsgiving, and fraternal sharing (charitable and missionary works)." (CCC 1438)

In behalf of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal-Youth Ministry, we are heartily welcome the arrival of Pope Francis here in the Philippines. We should mind these words "Joy and Enthusiasm" as the Pope told us during his homily at the Manila Cathedral earlier that the Filipino youth, despite of the worst attacks of temptation should remain simple and continue scatter the Word of God to others whoever you are. Pope Francis, bless us all to strengthen our faith and love towards mercy and compassion, enliven in simplicity. May the Lord Jesus Christ with the intercession of Mama Mary will enlighten our minds and hearts as we will continue facing the different struggles of life. Amen.

Good day! My dear brothers and sisters of God, we are still struggling from the great changes that is happenings in our lives. Please help us in changing our attitudes to put back on the right track. We, young people, are getting exposed from different temptations that brought us into sin. Our life is unpredictable. We really never know what will happen to us anytime. So, let us share the right happiness and spread the good hope, respect and love to others who need it. Lets accept those people who are still confusing whoever they are and what they will going to happen into their lives. Guide us, Holy Spirit and change our lives for a better future. Merry Christmas everyone!
